Good Morning JoeUser!

In case you've been under a rock for the last few weeks, you're aware that today is Election Day.  So for the rest of the day and well into the evening in many states, folks across America are going to their local polling location to cast their ballot.

Because the Presidential race is so contested this year, officials are expecting record turnouts.  Already, in states that held early voting, we've seen massive lines and wait times upwards of 6 hours.  In many states and cities, the lines today are expected to be even worse.

Now, we've discussed who we're voting for to death, so I'm not looking to hear you voted for.

If you have voted, what was your line like? How long did you wait?  Were there any problems?  What was the atmosphere like?

Me?  It took me about 1hr 45min total.  This included waiting in line and filling out my ballot.  My polling location it turns out is one of the largest ones in the area, but they only had 5 voting booths.  When I pulled in, I got the last actual parking spot and by the time I came out there were people parked in the lanes, on the curb, in the grass etc.

Shortly after the polls opened at 7am, they realized they didn't have enough booths and started scouring the building for extra tables, chairs and dividers.  Despite not having enough parking spaces or booths, things actually moved along pretty well and the line moved as quickly as could be expected for how long it was.

I voted.  Did you?  What was your experience?

50 minutes total from parking to voting and out.  Line wasn't too bad.

Got there at 6:30, doors opened at 7:00. there were about 20 people in front of me, got out by 7:15!!!

About half an hour.  The line was huge, but there were tons of booths.

Hmmm ....

It took me less than three minutes. Plenty of parking and no lines whatsoever, but that's pretty much how it is all the time in my town (Concord, MA).

got there at 5:30 am, doors opened at 6am and we were back at our car by 6:20ish.   We passed several polling stations on the way to ours (weird, eh?) and the lines at those were probably at least 200 deep at 5:30am.

Will be doing my voting later this afternoon, probably will be there for hours but what can I do? I hope for the best as LW put it.

Polls opened at 6:00 - Line was long starting at 5:15 - I got there at 6:30 - Out by 7:45

I voted back in October during the early voting but even then the line was around an hour long. I can just image what its going to be like later in the evening when all the last minute voters try to get their votes in before the polls close.

I voted at 10:45am.  Plenty of parking available, no line.  I was in-and-out in the amount of time it took me to get the ballot, fill it out, turn it in, and put on my "I voted" sticker.

I voted on Saturday.  We had early voting all last week 7-7 with Saturday being the last day so we took advantage of weekend voting.  We were in and out in like five minutes.  No lines, no waiting. 

Yeah!  Just how I like it!

It took me longer to bike over to the polls than it took me to vote (and that's because I went ot the wrong pricinct (but got to see my little girl while there)).

The experience went well.  I went around 10 to avoid pre-work and pre-lunch crowds.  The poll workers were helpful but not intrusive.  I went in a back way so avoided the gaunlet of hucksters out in front.

This election was an odd one here in Houston TX.  Usually a bastion of Republican love there were far few supporters of the republican candidates.  Fewer signs and stuff.  It seemed like no one was really for McCain/Palin but more-so didn't want the other guy to win.  I felt the same pain voting.

Polls here opened at 6am.  My wife and I got there about 5:45 and there was already a long line.  But it moved quick enough.  I was out in 45 minutes.  4 booths, and I was about 100 to vote at that precint.  Like many of them around here, it was at an elementary school.  SO parking was at a premium (and a reason people really do not want to live next to a polling place).

I hear the lines have died down.  But there is one advantage to voting that early - few hucksters!  only one litter bug was there at that hour.

i drove 5 miles to a library on 4pm during early voting (11th i think), after a couple of loops around i found a parking spot. I stood in a short line of 15 people, after about 5-10 minutes i got to vote. It was fairly quick and easy to vote using the electronic voting machines.

Also, I gleened new insight into the kooks who  said that the machines are cheating. The machine had a touch screen with names of candidates as buttons, you press on it and a 1 inch diameter circle next to the selection box lights up. After you have selected all of them you press on a PHYSICAL button labeled vote. You have to be retarded to miscast your vote, and you have to be retarded to complain about the machine cheating if your porky hands cannot manage to hit the right button (especially since nothing prevents you from pressing it again and again until the correct circle lights up).

The colors were also grey and red, so it was obvious what you pressed.

As a trucker who knew he wouldn't be home on election day I did what most truckers do and voted absentee ballot.
