If you're losing connection without it, then the problem is somewhere in the XP settings.

It's been so long see I've seen dialup, I'm afraid I'm going to be reasonably worthless as to settings ....... 

....surely, there must be at least one other troll on the planet with dialup..........do you have the Troll Hotline number???

haven't lost connection yet tonight, but I haven't opens Impulse either.  When I had Impulse installed before it kept hanging up updating itself

what I did was set IE to dial when there was no connection - so when I opened IE the normal connect box came up

but now, eveytime I open something, installer has another attempt at accelerator - least it takes no more than 2 cancels

got the link above bookmarked just in case.

graphics laden pages take a really long time without acceleration

forums don't take too long without it, unless the post has screenshots in it

I just opened the wb gallery page at 22:24 and right now (22:26) i've got 12 full thumbnails out of 24 loaded on the page and I have it set to show 48

Good luck there Bichur.  I'm still hoping you'll find the solution.  I remember dialup and you're right graphics on net pages are no fun especially without the accelerator.  Have you heard from support yet?

so I looked over the secret support instruction...

part of which was to go into C:\Program Files\Stardock\Impulse

and rename an exe to exe.bak and insert this other file.

so I open My Computer

open Program Files

open Stardock

what the?

and there ain't nothing in there but a bunch of folders with (2) at ends of the names - no exes

If I restore back to before I 1st restoreed and Impulse still shows no exes inside - I can just delete the folder, clean up the reg, reboot and reinstall the full verion, right?  other wise it get a clean reinstall.

Got no hopes the ELTotalAcces will come back as it was, so that will be unistalled until I get a good one to install.

and yes Duck, it's a neccesity when browsing pro umm... intensively graphic laden sites such as various gallery here a WC.

Went to Giveawayoftheday today and TMicro blocked it a a file exchange service

Didn't block gamegiveaway though

I had turned on website filtering last month when I followed a google link looking for some psp and paint.net plugins - clicked on link and TMicro stopped a virus or trojan from loading from that page

Now I wonder if the log/update part of Impulse was tagged as needing web site blockage?

Once my ELink disk comes in and I get all set as it was... gonna have to test that out...

been using an HP F50 15" (and that would be diagonal) monitor - Monday picked up an Acer 19" widescreen for $89 = I can now use IRB's skins!!  whoohoo

basic dsl finally became available in my area (my road is at the end of the line so I got lucky) - got it hooked up Tues after work.. even set it up with a wireless gateway so the wife can get connected from whatever room she's in

double whoohoo

still having slight issues with Impulse whn it loads up I get "problem retrieving update data" in the bottom left corner - if I let it sit for 10 min or so it starts working..

It's working normally then ;p

Having just connected my brother up to dial-up I now know what you have been going through.The Pony Express transferred data faster. And with less horses**t involved at that. Congrats on getting a better connection.

I had DSL Lite in SC and while it wasn't nearly as fast as the cable service I have now,it was reliable for the most part and no waiting to connect. Too bad my bro can't get DSL or cable,but it's unavailable where he lives.

and I find it somewhat irritating and sad that so many people live in some imaginary world where broadband is a given everywhere... anytime someone has an issue due to dialup and downloads they all jump in shouting get a better connection...

just noticed... Impulse at this post says me karma is 117, at WC it's 120, at SDC its 66

yet copying the link to me karma while within impulse (showing 117) is the link to me karma at WC (showing 120)

edit - and apparently if a page is fully loaded, you get extra stuff like edit button - too cool

Impulse needs tabs and a refresh button

and impulse is showing 96 reply while according to FF this on I'm typing is the 96th

and the ole kick in the ass gets it going....
