I have 7 factories but small ships still take 20 turns!(DA)

As Arcean...

I've got a planet, close to my capital, 10b population, 7 factories and 3 asteroid mines.

Building a ship with a 'cost' of 130BC (but if i buy now it's 800), it's taking 20 turns.

When I focus on military production, I have 9 military shields, 3 social shields and 2 research shields.

When I click summary, it says the planet has 73 MP's.

It also has 2 markets and a farm.

There has to be something I'm not getting, the way I see it small sized ships should be being built preeetty fast by this planet.

If this much production still takes 20 turns for a single ship to get built, I can't imagine how long it would take to get any fleet together.

Development has been fun, but after 10 hours in this game, I need to be able to built stuff without looking at the calendar.

What's going on?

Well, if I had to venture a guess, it could be your economy sliders. The game starts you with 67% production, and 33% each of that allocated to Military, Social and Research. If you haven't already, push the production to 100% and shove your Military up some. Of course this will affect your Income and morale. Oooh, yeah, second thought, did you happen to get hit by the plaque/disease events, if so they cripple your population and morale and production, until you research the cures. (You'll know if one of these happened, by the appearence of the cures in your research screen. That's all I got for now, good luck.

Arcean industry can be a real powerhouse once it gets going, especialy when you lay down that many factories on a planet. Even with 7 Traditional factories it should be doing a 130bc ship (at a guess, is it a constructor?) in well less then that so the only thing that seems likely to me is that your Production Slider (between Taxes and Military) is way down (normal stratergy is to have it at 100% all the time), and try adjusting your Military/Social/Research sliders to be a little bit more Military Orientated, then you should start seeing the desired results.

Yea i'd say this happening on an extreme world which you only have 50% of the techs for. Next to the planet in question you will see some icons. I'll hazard a guess next to this there is a yellow icon.

Find the corresponding tech down bottom of the tree in the green techs, and research that tech.

When you have only got 50% of the extreme techs in each type production is halved, no techs, you would see a red icon and zero production.

You will know you have 100% for any given extreme world by the now green icon next to the planet.

If this is not the case, then other than previous above mentioned solutions, check you dont have spies on the planet in question, denoted by the little red person. They will shut down any structure they are placed on. If so set your spending higher in the espionage tab and nullify them.

@Draconis. Yup extreme worlds were first introduced in DA.

If the above does not help, or make sense, post a screen shot of the planet and planet summery screen. might be able to help more with those.

If your sliders are at 67: 33/33/33 (initial new game state) and this is an extreme world for which you only have the first level of colonization techs, your numbers make perfect sense.

Two things you can do to increase production on that planet are lower your research slider and research the second level extreme colonization tech appropriate for the planet in question.  You might also consider shutting off social.

Do note that the sliders are civ-wide settings.

Neilo pretty much covered everything, though.
