Mini Mods posted to FileFront...

(Or i should have done this to start, it is much faster...)

http://dashboard.filefront.com/TealBlue/

I uploaded the mini mods i have been working on up to an account i created on filefront. I should have

done it much earlier, it is much quicker, i had no idea. Anyway, the mini's are there, they are not really sophisticated or anything, but small tweaks for small things in game. But i hope that people like them, i use them, it makes things a little easier and funner... haha, it that a word?  :)   Anyway take care and keep modding!!

well the tital is not going to realyl grab peoples attenchion. i advise creating [mod] or [MiniMod] titals and then a name. also in the opening describe the mod and then link it to the filefront download.

Ah... Three mini's

Mobile Defense:  I took the planetbeamdefense and it was static, didn't move. Annatar11 told me how to move the pics for the beam defense over to a frigate, i left in the module builder thing because i thought it would be nice to build and fight. Makes building things way faster with lots of them running around.  :)  And the moveable beam defense arrays aren't locked into a single place and out of range anymore.  :)

Strike Craft Mod:  Someone in the forums wanted to beef up the numbers of strike craft per carrier and drone host. I increased to 4 to start but a top end of 16 for the capitals, the tec, advent and the vasari. I took the frigate carriers and gave them 6. But that is where they start and stop. It seemed enough to make for an interesting increase, but not enough to really unbalance the game. If you like you can re-do the frigates and capitals to higher numbers yet. Or adjust them however you see is best. Its not hard. Perhaps i should post what i did, so those new to this can give it a go.  :)

Teal's Mini Mod: Here i took some of the ideas i had and merged them. I think the beam defense is in this one too, but what i wanted to concentrate on mostly with this one, was copying over capital abilities to the frigates. In this way, you can effectively have as many "capitals" as you want, without a limit.  :)  I like it and play it alot, though to be honest it is overpowering sometimes.  I also adjusted the costs on some planet upgrades and ship costs and asteroid count and output, so that it is easier to get up and running with a fairly good size fleet quickly. I know its more strategic and epic to take a long time for all of this, but well... sometimes i dont have much time to game, so my games are fairly quick and bloody.  Haha, well, this may not be everyones cup of tea. It just reduces costs and some research costs and build times for ships. It is not as extensive as Danny117's on the Mod Site, but just enough to get the ships up and running.

So that is it, those are the descriptions for my mini mods, they arent really earth shakers, or game re-vampers, but small tweaks here and there to make things a bit more easier for a casual player to use, thats all.  :)

I sound like an old modder, haha, but ive only been doing this for about 2 months now, so im just newbie too, but learning.

lol we all were at one time. i started around the same time as annatar11 (if memory serves corectly, the few main modders back then were annatar11, Uzii, and i think there was 1-2 more, and i just made my own little mods that i toyed with like i am now. best way to learn is to dive right in. also you learn alot from browsing the forums. ive also made a little tutorial post that seems to not have been really recognized. pitty these forums dont render properly in firefox 3, they have a limit to low long they can be. anyhoo, happy learning.

Oh... if you have tried any of my mini mods, could you let me know what you think?  Oh, by the way, your single-use ship ability?  Where do i put it and how do i make it work?

lol. it depends on what ship you use really. i used the javilin lrm for it. and you would open up the frigate .entity file and put the ability in near the bottom, in the ability0 to ability3 secion.

I made a mistake, the Mini mod 2 was a compilation of small tweaks, like lower costs, build times and research costs, crystal and metal outputs, number of constructors per planet level, that sort of thing. I'm afraid i mislabeled it as my CapitalShip Frigate mini mod. But i have uploaded the Cap-Frigate mini mod to FileFront and it includes a merge with the Phase Scouts mini mod, and the Planet Shield mini mod found on the WinCustomize site. Hope it is all right with the authors, they are fantastic mods, and i merged them to play on my own.  :)

Anyway, the Cap-Frigates costs are slightly higher than just the frigates by themselves, but the specs have been tweaked a little bit. I left all the costs and research params intact on this one, and also includes a modified carrier for the tec's and the advent that have colonize, capture and shield and shipcripple abilities. Just in case you need or want a single ship that can do a variety of things without a huge fleet backup to do the other jobs. It includes of course a complement of fighter/bombers (20) with i believe missile launchers on them.  :)  Anyway it was  alot of fun making it, take care and keep modding!!  :)

This is an edit of my previous edit, haha, silly, anyway, i re-checked the mini mod 2.0 and it does have the frigate capitals, so i guess i was wrong when i thought i left it out. Anyway, just wanted everyone to know. Also, the mini mods have now been posted to the Sins Wincustomize forum.  :)  Happy Days!!  the Wincustomize site is much simpler and prettier to use, in my opinion than file front. Anyway, take care and keep modding!!

I'm working on some new things and hope to post a new mini soon,

:)

Good old days :P I miss Uzii :( He was a great modder. We actually tried to collaborate on a big modding guide but quickly figured out it would be insanely long. He was going to handle the ability/planet stuff because that's all he'd been working on, but I got to 5 pages before finishing explaining the folder structure and file purpose which is a pretty small part of the deal :P

You know there is a filefront site dedicated to sins. its called solar.filefront.com, its a bit to red though ;)

For formality's sake, please be sure to include an installation readme. Just to cover your own rear should you encounter a person without a clue in their head.  =)  Otherwise, great mods!
