A Community Project

A long journey begins!

This year, we will start a project we have long waited for,

a Fan-Expansion Pack for Galactic Civilizations II : Twilight of the Arnor.

It will be a community Mod, so the whole community can participate on the development.

The first stone, a mod containing a lot of content we developed over the last years will be released parallel to the Mod Metaverse and will be the first mod which will be available in the Mod Metaverse. On this mod, we will build up the Expansion pack!


Let me lead you inside the backgroundstory of the Fan-EP:



Sometimes, a small group of the United Planets Member of the milkyway galaxy decided to escape the never ending war by sending out colonyships to a nearby galaxy. Driven by hope to find a new place to live without Conflicts, they settled down and started discovering the Andromeda Galaxy. Noone expected falling directly into a Hornet's Nest...the Andromeda Galaxy was dominated by 2 Races, struggling each other for thousands of years. The old rivals recognized the new galactic players and try to convince them for there sides.
Strong propaganda tear the former UP members apart and each aligned with a side, joining the intergalactic war, again.
The steadfast neutrality of the Terrans, is your destiny, to bring peace to this galaxy...

well from this on, it is left to the community, how it continues, we plan to start one of many Seasons, like in TV, handling of stories and incidents of your imagination!


Here's a little log of what extra-content will come to you:

Ultra galaxymap predefined 4x4 +8 immense maps predefined, each representing a sector, 4 for each quadrant + 8 borderland

New weapon effects and systems, each race gets different weapon/defense advantages.

New models

New spacetextures

New mainmenu

New userinterface

New shiptemplates for each race

2 brand new races, the Asa & Vanir

New modules: energy reactors

New models for shield, armor, point defense, sensors, life support

Like i said, very very soon. there is no official date set, so it's up to Stefan to respond with an actual release date if he wants to.

It's most definitely alive! I haven't actually seen the Vanir tech tree yet, but what I've seen of the other races is well worth the wait. ;)

hehe, well I won't make the mistake of giving a release date I can't hold again.

We have a lot of Freelancer working on that project and each of them has there unique life stuff to do, so we are just as fast as the whole team is. But we are working, and the expansion is growing, and what you will see is the ultimate of GalCiv 2, so keep excited!

We are searching for shipstyles, to integrate them into the Addon.

We invite the creators of the cool shipstyles in the library to contact us and have their styles be part of New Frontiers!

We released a little demo of some non-gameplay-changing stuff available in the New Frontiers Expansion pack, new planet and space textures, new weapons and the New Frontiers Soundtrack!

One more unlucky web user who's been experiencing I-Mod's ISP connectivity problems.

After some pinging & tracing from Quebec over the last two weeks, it somehow HAS (98% odds, btw) to be a NY state main frame server.

Contact your ISP & give them hell for charging you a service **we** all don't get.

I hear AOL.com & MSN.com were partly the culprit.

With that much pings and a few key tricks up our sleeves, they certainly took notice.

Next time around, we won't be sooo tolerant of ISP servers.

I-Mod sites back online and let's hope it stays that way.

Offline *again*... now, this means war to the US servers & ISP responsibles who are blocking Canadian communications or more people like Crusadersoft, DSep, Scoutdog...

They don't know what a GC2 community can do to block payments for services they don't receive.

Here's the situation - Bell Sympatico is going to lose a LOT of money from me starting today until they fix this mess.

Just watch me.

In June, we will get back active on New Frontiers, myself will model 3 new shipstyles with modules for kitbashing and complete new models for functional modules and weapons.

There's also a little present for some Star Trek fans of you, I will create a Star Trek similar shipstyle for the Terrans, so you can build your own trek ships in New Frontiers. This is my tribute to the lovely Star Trek Universe, I hope you'll like that!

Hi together

Today I finished the basis for all new Turrets in New Frontiers. They will have a similar turretstation but different "Gunpipes"

it seems there is a bug with the new weapon behavior tag and the weapons could look strange in this version, I hope stardock can fix this in the next version or I need to find another solution.

I would have recognized this much earlier if you would give me some feedback on this next time.

There will be a new Trailer and version out in July, showing the new features, we plan to have a solid version including 2 new races and one overhauled in late september.

 

keep in mind, we still try around and the final version will be high quality!
