Newbie want to play Multiplayer game

I've download the Stardock application and even started the game from that application, but still I have no connection; I am very new to the game, and am not quite sure how to adjust ports if thats what it requires please give me a couple of clues how to do it.

Hi,
The procedure for Opening and forwarding ports depends on exactly how your network is setup. If you are using a router you will need to go into that routers configuration and forward TCP port 2509 from the internet to 2509 on your machine (you will have to specifiy an IP address of the machine you want the port forwarded to)

If you are using a software firewall you will need to set it to allow incoming packets and out going packets on port 2509. If you are running the XP SP2 security center stuff, go into control panel->Security Center->Windows Firewall (at the bottom of that window)->Exceptions->Add Port... Then check TCP, give it a name like Political Machine, and fill in the port number as 2509 and then press OK. You should be all set after that.

Thanks,
Jake

Once you have your port open, run Political Machine and then click on Join Multiplayer game. Enter in a player name, and hit the refresh button. This will connect you to the server and list any games that have been created. It will also list any players who are currently connected to the server in the chat list. You can create your own multiplayer game from this screen as well; just click on the create button and set up the game. You'll still be able to see the chat from the lobby, but not the list of players.
