I just found this title while browsing for turn based games. I have played the demo and liked it quite a bit. Anyone else have experience with this game? I am considering purchasing.
Myself, I liked Battle for Wesnoth better.
I liked it a lot. The tactical model is pretty solid and the units have a certain charm.
I found it borrrrring, compared to Heroes of Might & Magic 5, or the recent King's Bounty : The Legend. The "tactical model" is rather simplistic.
But as a « & pretzel » game, I guess it's OK.
King's Bounty is made by the same company as Fantasy Wars. I played it, and it gets really challenging by the 3rd or 4th mission. The trick is not to lose units and purchase the right units at the end of each mission. Also try to at least get the bronze trophy this way, you get more cash. OH yeah.. read the manual and be very much aware of how terran and unit combos affects combat outcomes.
I am going to try the Battle for Wesnoth. I will also more than likely go ahead and purhase the Fantasy Wars game. I have never really liked games like Heroes of Might and Magic, etc. because I HATE the battle modes. You never get more than a few units playing on what can best be described as a pretty chess set. I prefer games where I have vast armies playing across expnsive battle fields. I had Dominions 3 but lost the CD key and absolutely refuse to purchase it again. You can not control your armies in Dom 3 but it still has that expansive feel I like in a game.
