Anyone looking to create a mod?

Hello everyone,

Just a little post inviting anyone who is interested in making a SoaSE mod (either good, bad, expert or beginner) for any reason...(adding a new race, new ships, only little balance of game), to step forward and try to form a team!

Even if all you have are ideas for mods, write them down and I'm sure together, we can accomplish them and be like all the great modders out there (*winks at DANMAN, SpardaSon, ManShOOter, and all the other ones I missed)!

9. You basically mean a ship with a huge-ass cannon?  It can be done, just make a ship that is a huge freaking gun.

====> LOL, I mhave a habit of making all my ships like that! Even my salvager had a huge gun at its front! Sorta ruins it's purpose (got corrected in the meantime of course).

oj yeah!! i really mean that!!! could yu pls look at the first page! i really mean that!! a huge mass killer cannon can join a fleet!!!! hahahaha! i already have the designs but i still have modifications!!!.. so i can set the evasion my self?? and can be further increased in upgrades? and could you look at the first page what things there are impossible and possible?

Neruthea..I'm very interested in your Miste Bombard, Orion Defender, Ballista Plasma platform as well as Diamond Core!!

So would it be possible to find some shots showing the ship from other angles plz!

I'm currently compilling a list of all ships I want to start off with so that once I finish my exams (thrusday), I can get back into my beloved and beautiful ships :). I'm becoming an addict of XSI (even though I suck at it ;) ) LOL

game balancing might start becomming an issue.  I mean, is every faction going to get a big ass cannon or does only one get to overcompensate with their big guns?  :grin:

well for TEC, Vasari and Advent i have already one in my mind of what kind improvement they will have... like TEC having an additional ship called missile frigate and additional frontline cruisers with special abilities... for vasari... well i cant think of any since they already have RA... advent... i have lots of idea for this one

I got a battle Fortress schematic for Nephil! Something KILLING!!! Just gonna be hard to mod with my tiny skills...

actual ship coding is easy as heck :p its the ability coding that can take a long time, it least in my opinion, im working on a little mod myself out of bordum that makes capital ships bulldozers (slow but verry verry nasty). i take it your a modeler?

why not up the odds against the pirate menace?  imagine if they had battlestations of their own.  I'm not sure if pirates are hardcoded to exist with just a few ships or not, I mean do they build more for themselves?  but it would make for an interesting team map.

I don't know if campaign scripting will be introduced in one of the micro expansions, but imagine several races banning together to face the pirate's new super weapon or space station.  I expect there to be multi-part mods if we can confirm story events that can be coded in the future.

StCobalt if you can code up the stats for some super capital ships, we can really see flagships being available for the mod.  someone makes the model, blows it up to galactic scale, then we set seperate hull and armor for each cap ship, and make the super fortress or whatever cost almost as much as the space station.  I don't really follow the GUNDAM series but I expect they had some mobile bases that could deliver some real punishment.  would be a good ship to stick the cannon on.

Im working on my coding abilities in an effort to make the game faster and add more micro. Im also looking to add lots of abilities that scale well for early, mid, and late game for all factions. Maybe I could help u guys out?

It's just I see you sooo often around here, you're name has sort of become second nature to the modding world!!!

 

*StCobalt: Yes Cobalt, I'm a modeler! Starting to create decent models...but still the bloody texture issue! I just can't do that....!!! Plus I do agree...sip codding is easy as hell! And for Ability..thats when Kiedjor comes in ;)!

lol. im also getting into particle moding as well, altho it will take a while to get use to, i think i like it :p but ya, i can agree, texturing is anoying as hell and takes a long time to get use to (it least for me)

Can you texture...as in if I give you a model can you cover him with at least a basic paint job without having to kill your free time or be an utterly boring job for you?

lol i can hardly texture at the moment but i will be learning it when i finish learning particle forge. if you got some good looking models, all the more motivation to try.

it irratates me how there is literly no great models out there. the best ive seen to my likeing is going to be in stargate (altho there are other mods out there with great modelers/texturers, just its for an alien race, i wanted to make something more terran like, i dont fussy the default models)

Me neither! I liek the designs but I just want to create something unique!

Give me time and I'll surely improve (I discover new things everytime I work on XSI!)...it's just an extremely long process to get to the point of ManShOOter,etc.!

the fortress is the better of the two in my opinion, be hell to texture tho lol. personally id like to see a decent moddel of a terran ship that was actualy eye apealing. sorta rectangular in shape but instead of having everything offset, having most things balanced down the middle.

just something i basicaly spent the entire day moding, out of bordum. i think it turned out decent, and its over powered but the AI can still kill it :p

Based of the Kol Battleship model?

All of mine are custom, so it takes a little longer than a day for me ;)

its the akkan class just uses beams and lasers mostly (no autocannons or missiles), also it has a shield effect of the Kol (the ability one) and the engin trail is modifyed. and of course the beams as well.  but ya, if i could find a remodel of this ship that took out a lot of the large towers on top, the dome, and the excess parts on the side and made it a bit narrower and even it would be nice.

Check out Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.  Has some of my favorite human ships in it.  Sorta rectangular, with sloping sides and everything symmetrical.
