Reboot won't run even when installed over CD version

The origional CD version worked fine before I bought and installed reboot from Impulse. Now reboot won't run, niether will the origional. I'm running widows vista, unless someone asks I won't bother posting sys specs, as the origional game worked fine and I am well above recommended specs. Looking for a fix. I get no error. It just pauses for a second deciding whether it will run the game or not, then decides no.

You will never see error messeges unless Debug is set to yes in cfg.txt, so that doesn't mean anything. The probable cause is that Impulse does not check whether the 800*600 resolution pack was installed but simply flags it as available for the expansion, which causes a crash if it is not. If that is the case, you either reinstall the game with both resolution packs, or you can edit install.txt to flag the appropriate resolution pack as not installed.

800*600 is resolution21, 1024*768 is resolution 2.

So if you have not installed 800*600 resolution pack, you set Resolution_R1 to No, and remove all package lines with a 1 in them such as 1gov.pkg, etc.

If this was not the problem, post ########.log for debug information.

Ok reinstalled origional, when I tried to launch reboot, starforce cried looking for the  disk, so I uninstalled reboot and when I tried to reinstall it, Impulse kept asking me to register space rangers 2 first, I would point it to the install directory, but it would just keep looping. Still there may be progress here. just need a bit more help.

After uninstalling reboot, reinstall the original from the disks, since uninstalling reboot may have damaged the installation.

Then reinstall reboot.

I trhought I had, once i reinstalled both, it worked, though I was conscerned when impulse didn't ask for a install directory that last time. Many thanks, resolved.
