FPS Shootout! Farcry 2 vs Left 4 Dead

Only one shall survive!

I'm torn between the two and can't make up my mind on which to get. o_O   So which will it be for you? Only one can survive! Farcry 2 or Left 4 Dead?

Your opinions please

I'm getting Far Cry 2. Open world and all that. Left 4 Dead is more of a squad shooter, but the recent Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway satisfies me there quite well :P

Left 4 Dead looks absolutely my cup of tea, can't wait to get some of my online buddied together for some games of that, gonna be hilarious fun.  Farcry 2 looks like it's enjoying some good reviews but what is it bringing to the table that hasn't been done before?  I might end up getting Farcry 2 but I'm not sure why I would want to get it over Crysis Warhead.

Well, Far Cry 2 is more of an open world where you go where you like getting various side missions, etc. It's sort of RPG-ish in that sense (you also get 'money' - really blood diamonds, to buy stuff as far as I understand).  Warhead/Crysis are single path story driven shooters, pretty much.

Far Cry 2, hands down. Burn entire enemy camps with a flamethrower, a handy savannah and a favorable wind? I'm sold.

If Impulse was offering these as pre-order, I would be tempted. But only with boxed copy deals as part of the mix, otherwise I`ll stick with retail acquisition.

Far Cry 2`s recent 'tanker target' gameplay video was particularly impressive. Looking forward to it.

Left 4 Dead seems more like a gamers-game to me.  I'm going to get it i think.

Hm, let me think. Far Cry 2 is pure Eye Candy while Left 4 Dead is a Valve game, which mean a nice single player mode.

Okay, that won't work lets take a closer look. Far Cry 2 uses SecoROM which mean it is death for me. Left 4 Dead uses steam which lead to the same.

Who says Far Cry 2 is pure eye candy? The least you could do is read up on it :P

Far Cry is... er... far from just eyecandy. It's a sandbox shooter. I love sandbox shooters. I get to be creative AND blow stuff up! Anyway, the game makes some very interesting moves forward where user experience and immersion is considered. I don't know of any other game where you have to dig out shrapnel from your leg with a knife or set your dislocated shoulder after you crash through a hut full of bad guys with a jeep. :p

Greetings!

Left4Dead.

Farcry2 has the same stupid limited activations and online authentications as Spore, Warhead , Mass Effect, etc.

Pitty, seemed a good game.

Hey Stardock?

What about it? Any chance to swing a pre-order boxed copy deal via Impulse on Far Cry 2 and or Left4Dead, ala Sins and Demigod?

We don't sell boxes of non-Stardock products, sorry.

Crap. Roger that.

Left4Dead.

Ubisoft has used StarForce and limited activations - in other words, it's told me it does not want my $50.  It even has this on the Steam version - an insult.

Oh, and the activation with the servers doesn't seem to work always, judging from angry posts in the official forum.

DRM never works as intended.  If I were the companies that made the games, I'd be suing Sony over Securom not doing anything but pissing off my customers.  Two different people I know are playing Far Cry 2 - one on the Xbox360 and one on the PC - and I'll give you a hint - their version doesn't cause them any problems, because they don't have DRM on them.
