Ships Taking Damage Outside of Combat

Hi, I'm currently playing a large round as the Advent, and I have a fleet full of a capital ships, cruisers, and frigates, and for some reason most of my ships, whether or not they are in combat, take 1.5 damage/sec.  I have a bunch of Destra Crusaders (70 of them) which have the Dominion ability.  I know that inflicts 1.5 damage/sec on enemy ships, but does it also affect my own ships?  I've taken ships out of the fleet and added others, but my vessels still take damage all the time so I need to keep Progenitor Motherships nearby to fix their shields.  It is a bug?  Also, is it possible for Revelation Battlecruisers (or some other Advent ship) to convert enemy ships, because I've never noticed that happening before but now in large fleet battles I end up with 4 or 5 converted enemy ships.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You know, I've never had this problem. I've got the largest fleet possible ingame with all the ablities researched and on autocast. Infact I had RED fleet capacity value due to captured enemy vessels. That was really COOL:cylon: totally dominated.

But I can't say that the ships took damage when not in combat.

If you just came out of combat with TEC, I know that their "destructive drones" from the robotic repair ship does damage. But that only lasts a little while.

Hope that helps.

What version are you running?  I'm not certain, but it sounds like one of the fixes where captured ships were not shutting their abilities off when switched to another team might be the problem.

Clarion5,

I have had a similar problem to you when i modded files attempting to get some ships without having to research for them. I erased the numprequiset lines  after numprerequiset 1 that i changed to numprerequiset 0. I think the ability "STILL" needed to be researched, even though i made the ship itself accessible. I was getting constant damage along the lines of about what you are saying 1.5 per second. I think it is the ability files for those ships that were not researched. If you have changed files, or click research, but then run out and make the ship before the research has finished, I am guessing that is causing the problem. Try researching the ship types and the ability types you want in the research tree and letting them complete, and then create the ships. See if the abilities are loading properly with there pictures showing properly. This of course may not be your problem at all, but it was mine, and I had similar damage per second on some of my ships.

Hope it helps,

Clarion5,

Yes the Rev BattleCruiser does capture enemy ships with the dominate ability. :)

This should've been resolved in one of the beta patches that we have. Mazuo is correct, in the older patches if you captured a Crusader with Vengeance, the ability would not reset after the playerID change of the ship, so it kept damaging your own ships forever.

But this shouldn't happen anymore in the betas.

Thank you Annatar11,

Ahhh, i'm not sure, i have version 1.05 and the update from the site, but it was dated from feb i believe. perhaps it is because i changed the files on purpose in my attempt at modding. I didn't have the problem before that. and after i restored the original versions of the files the problem went away.

Maybe a missed finish condition for the buff then? Not sure :)

It was a captured Crusader.  I pulled all my Crusaders out and they were the only ships taking damage.  I have ver. 1.05 and haven't modified any system files.  How I can I fix this problem/download the beta that fixes this?  Thank you everybody for all you help.

To download the beta patch, select "Show pre-release versions" in Impulse's blue orb menu. You'll get 1.096 version listed as available, which is the latest current beta build that should not have this issue. :)

i doubt this is what is happening, but did your ships happen to get hit by a Violent Nanite by a CP player? The only other thing that i can think of is that you need to get a patch update, or you need to reinstall your game. I dealt with the same type of thing in Warcraft. And also I have had a little trouble with it on SINS, but it turned out to be the Violent Nanite... sorry if im wrong about it, but its the best i have.
