2v2 is a bish?

This game not 2v2 friendly?

Me and my buddy bought Sins, played vs the computers to learn the ropes, and loved it!

We anxiously and excitedly tried our hand at 2v2.  We generally enjoy the 2v2 type games for cooperative play, however, sins doesn't seem to be built for that kind of gameplay in mind.

it seems like one guy always gets double teamed, and the maps are so big, and fleets move around so slow, that you can't react fast enough to help your ally.  It takes like 15 minutes to jump across the galaxy to his base if he suddenly needs your help.

Are we playing from the wrong perspective? We try to be aggressive early, but the game either ends up as two 1v1s, or a 2v1, with the other player too far away to do anything.

Comments are greatly appreciated, thanks!

It sounds like your issue may be one of the following:

1) The maps you are playing are too big - hencet you are too far away from your friend/ally

2) You are not expanding quick enough. A common mistake that new players make is that they turtle. Sins is not sympathetic to slow expansion as an AI that expands quickly to 6-7 planets vs you with say 3-4 will have a better econ to research new tech and build more ships

3) The AI you are playing against is too hard for your current skill level. Sins is not like most other games where you can win on easy firsttime blindfolded and normal without having to learn the game. A lot of people have issues playing against easy at first and get worked by normal. You need to start on the lowest level and build up and you learn how to play.

There are some excellent quides on these forums that explain the game mechanics and possible strategies/tactics. Read them. They will make you a better player.

One final thing - multiplayer vs human is hard - if you can't handle a few hard/unfair AIs, then the best of the best online will whoop you. So take your time and enjoy learning with your friend - multiplayer will still be there in a week or two and you will enjoy it more if you aren't killed within 20-30 minutes...

Hope this helps a little - Sins is a great game. It just has a bit of a learning curve. But it IS worth learning... ;)

If the game was "faster", and the ships could travel "faster", so too could the AI ships.  They would just be double teaming you guys "faster".  Scouting and antipating are key to winning (or not getting stomped as bad).  You might try playing the Varasi, as they can build gates that "jump" them from one planet to another.

Don't feel too bad; my friend and I still have not beat a 2v2 AI on hard yet (but came close).  When you DO finally beat the AI, it's a great feeling.

What hack78 said.  If you want to pay on a big map add some additional unaligned races.  This may keep the ai busy fighting other ai instead of just pounding on you.  It also may allow you to conquer some of these non aligned races and grow stronger before you meet up with the ai duo.

There are settings that the host can set that determine a number of factors including ship speed, income speed etc... Not sure if tweaking them will help you or not though. Most online people want them on fast so the game doesn't drag on for ages...
