John McCain Dead of Heart Attack!

Palin Now President

The night after becoming President elect, Senator John McCain, has died of an apparent heart attack, and now the country's worst problems in the history of the country will fall to President elect Palin.

This is a purely hypothetical situation but it is also very possible as Senator McCain is the oldest person to run for the country's highest office. I just thought it would be something that could stir some responses from both sides and should provide for some great debate.

God forbid that the situation should become a reality but, what if.

While I knew this wasn't true because I read the news reports before coming here, I just wanted to see who was the one behind the sick sense of humor.

another liberal  in our midst perhaps?

I'm not a liberal, I am a registered republican. I was Ronald Reagan's county campaign chairman, but I do disagree with the last eight years and with McCains Vice Pres choice. This choice does scare me and it is what being a vice president is all about......... I just find it hard to believe that this is the best we could do. Do you really want this woman to be commander in chief or do you think that if something happens to McCain that we get a do over?

So you're a Republican who doesn't like the Republicans?  Hmmmmm.

What I'd love to know is what is driving you?  What is your real problem here?

With a name like Harry S, I'm sure it CAN'T be her inexperience can it?

How much history do you know about Harry S. Truman?  Did you know how much experience he had as VP?  He hardly had any contact at all with Roosevelt especially when it came to foreign affairs.  From what I understand Roosevelt didn't bother Harry with too many details and THEN HE DIED leaving Truman as the new inexperienced President of the United States.

Here's a quote from Harry Truman himself:

During his few weeks as Vice President, Harry S Truman scarcely saw President Roosevelt, and received no briefing on the development of the atomic bomb or the unfolding difficulties with Soviet Russia. Suddenly these and a host of other wartime problems became Truman's to solve when, on April 12, 1945, he became President. He told reporters, "I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me."

So to ease your mind a bit.....just think of Sarah as the S in Harry S. Truman and in your own name and you'll be just fine.

Here's another source from the Wikipedia:

Truman had been vice president for only 82 days when President Roosevelt died, 12 April, 1945. He had had very little meaningful communication with Roosevelt about world affairs or domestic politics after being sworn in as vice president, and was completely uninformed about major initiatives relating to the successful prosecution of the war—notably the top secret Manhattan Project, which was about to test the world's first atomic bomb.

Shortly after taking the oath of office, Truman said to reporters:

"Boys, if you ever pray, pray for me now. I don't know if you fellas ever had a load of hay fall on you, but when they told me what happened yesterday, I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me."

So what's the big problem with Sarah Palin?

Sort of a rhetorical question, really.  Only problem is she's on the 'wrong' ticket.

So why is this so bad?

Let's see. We get McCain as President with the posibility of Palin running the show if he passes on. So the "bad part" does not happen first, it's only if McCain dies. Yet if Obama wins we get something worse than Palin right off the back and if, for what ever reason Obama happened to kick the bucket, we get Biden.

So to recap, with McCain/Palin we get good to possible bad and with Obama/Biden we get bad to worse. Well, I think that answers my question as to who would be a better choice.

You know zoo, there are times when comedy is inappropiate. To me, this is definitely one of those moments. BTW, thanks for proving Draginols point about how the other side goes the distance, even enjoying the death of members of the opposing party, to reach their goals.

The country could do and has done worse than having Palin as pres.

Actually, given genetics and life style, it is more likely that Obama would be the one croaking, not McCain.  McCain's mother is still alive, Obama's is not.  Obama smokes.  McCain does not.

Unless in the interest of "fairness" the democrats are now proposing a modified logan's run.

Whoa, whoa...I said 'important'.  There was nothing in there about it being a good thing.  I didn't even intend for it to be a joke.  You read too much into what wasn't there.

I'm not so crazy or heartless as to celebrate the death of someone over political reasons...or any reasons, actually.

Ok then.  That does it for me.  I'm not voting for a smoker!!  O:)

He has tried to quit several times since he started running for the president, but they keep catching him cheating.

I don't even begin to pretend that I know anything about politics, but your post has no ground beneath it. I truely believe you are just another die hard republican. Prove me wrong. Give me a logical explanation to your hypothetical playing out of the two parties.

Charles: I have to wonder why you feel that a little joke in innapropriate. I also would like to know how you can go as far as to say that, "goes the distance, even enjoying the death of members of the opposing party, to reach their goals." When the author clearly states that it is purely a hypothetical situation. The problem with this election is that both sides are introducing candidates that have not been given a chance before. Merely a political strategy to gain voters. Therefore we are not getting the best candidates on both sides. In closing, come out of your biased shell and worry about something more important than a "joke" as you state it.

Let's seet, the title says "McCain dead of a heart attack" which would be an important issue since he is currently the nominee for the Republicans so when you say " you tricked me" followed by "I thought this was something important", It somewhat came off as a sick joke. But I will be honest and admit I may have read more than it was intended and for that I apologize zoo. We may not always agree but I can respect your views and admit when I am wrong.

Well, I was not trying to prove any scientific matter here and I was not using any polls or any facts to support my comments. I was simply trying to point out just how idiotic this article is because it's a shame to look for "what if" scenarios just because McCain is old as a way to make Palin look bad.

I guess you never heard about the comments some Democrats have made enjoying the death of their opponenets just to win. You need to keep up with things dude.

You need to spend more time on this site reading and commenting before you go around accusing people of anything. As you mentioned you are first timer. So far I am not impressed but then I started just like you so there is still hope for you.

Well, by tricked I meant the title was misleading.  The death of a candidate would definitely be classified as 'important' in my book.  National news it would be.

No sick joke this time...just kinda pissed off that title was so misleading.

Maybe I should use more angry faces... X(

Wow, I knew about Obama's mom, but didn't know he is a smoker.  Even if he wasn't a smoker,(I'm going to say something racist here) studies have shown that on average black men have shorter life spans that whites.  This isn't important, I just wanted to fit into shocking nature of the article here.
