[Gripe] Pixel Shader 2

[Gripe] Pixel Shader 2

Why no Pixel Shader 2 support.  I bought demigod for gameplay NOT graphics.  I wouldn't care if everything was 2d.  Most frustrating, if my system has other issues with demigod, I can't tell since it freezes when the menu loads... What gives? is there a memory leak in the menu?

I'm not here to whine, I just would like some official word on this.  If I have to go buy an 8x 3850 thats fine and dandy, but I would like to know if that is necessary.  Also, I think alot of people who play supcom may be turned away if they find out they have to upgrad their systems to play demigod.

I have downloaded the new 1c Version of the Demigod Beta and nothing has changed.
I can't play it with my  Radeon 850XT  (Pixel Shader 2.0).

So I want to know if Demigod will suppoprt Pixel Shader 2.0 in a later version ?

The System Requirements on Impuls says:

Minimum: 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon 9800 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)
Recommended: 256 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon x800 / Nvidia GeForce 7600 or better)

Both ATI Card are using Pixel Shader 2.0 - so you can't play Demigod with these.

It would be a pity if i can't play Demigod only because it dosen't support Pixel Shader 2.0

On my Notebook (Radeon 2400XT Mobily / 3.0 ) Demigod works, but very, very slow.
My X850XT is more powerfull than the Mobility Radeon in my Notebook, so it would work well without Pixel Shader 3.0 .

Yes it will support pixel shader 2.  I'm too lazy to dig out the post from the developer.

Supreme Commander supports ps2 and this game is suppose to have less requirements than supcom.

Just relax and wait for it.  I'm waiting too

I finally went and upgraded my video card, mostly to play Mechwarrior Living Legends (a Crysis Mod).

Currently using HIS 3850 ICEQ3 AGP.  My aforementioned system now runs Demigod smoothly at 1600 x 1200 on high.  This system also runs the Crysis Demo at 1280 x 1024 on high with barely a hitch (turning a few settings to medium makes it run perfect)

The only downside is I feel that I may have failed you a bit as a beta tester.  Until I replaced the card, I had not looked at impulse to see if there had been an update since October.  I also found out that my Dx9 drivers were slightly out of date.

As such, it may be that my x800 would have been OK (probably not at highest settings).  Another thing that indicates that my old card might have worked is that I attempted the October version of demigod on the new card before I checked impulse, and encountered a frozen load screen when I launched a game.  The new menus are nice, and the load times have been a bit slow, but not insufferable.

Anyhow, please accept my apology for being unmotivated to rip the brand new card out of my system (risking static from one of the 2 walking furballs in my home), in order to put the x800 back in and see if demigod is now optimized for it.

who knows, might cause the current build of demigod to work...

No Pixel Shader 2 Support in the new Beta 2. It still doesn't work.

But it looks funny -_-

nb = nota bene?

If so I'm glad we could be of some help.  My hurting wallet feels the pain of X800 users.

Sry, but now I'm very pissed.
Why did GPG/Stardock changed the Minimum Requiements ?

- 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon X1600 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)

That means NO Pixel Shader 2 support. Why didn't anybody tell this month ago ?

Weren't they able to fix this bug ? Or wasn't this a bug and all Developers know, that this would never be changed ?

I'm Beta Tester since last August and tested EVERY Version of Demigod a few days after release and hoped somethimes it will support P.S.2.0.

I will contact the Support and hope I will get my money back, if not, Demigod was the last Game I bought from GPG/Stardock ...

"NOTE: System requirements have not been finalized and are subject to change"

in their defense...

Same here my friend, I'm on the same boat as you can see from this thread.  I also don't like how this game isn't low requirements at all.

I just downloaded DoW2 beta and I can play that fine with my P4 radeon x1650.   Demigod is barely playable on the lowest settings.
