Unfortunately it is the best system of government in the world.
In a one party system you have wonderful leaders emerge like Benito Mussolini, Adolph Hitler, Saddam Husain, Kim Il Sung, Kim Jung Il and other great leaders.
In a multi party system like in Israel, Italy and the like you can elect a good leader only to have any number of opposition parties take you out with a vote of no confidence just so their leader can be in charge for a minute or two.
In a two party system you have the majority of people in one of four or six or ten parties depending on how you look at it.
In America we don’t really have a two party system. We have two major parties. Republicans and losers, ooops sorry I mean democrats. Within each of the two major parties you have the left wing the right wing, the liberal wing and the conservative wing, the moderates supposedly in the middle. Mixed in each party are the lunatic fringe groups. So it is really not a two party system. A liberal republican is just as stupid as a liberal democrat. Mr. Kennedy was a conservative democrat and Mr. Reagan was a conservative republican. Mr. Carter was a liberal democrat and Mr. Bush (pick one it does not matter) was a liberal republican.
Currently the democrats are ruled by the liberal wing and the republicans are influenced by the conservative wing. As a conservative I vote republican only because it is a party I still have influence. Even with a liberal president, as a conservative, I still have a say to some extent. This is not the case in the democrat party which is why they have not had the majority vote since President Carter.
Senator McCain is a liberal republican and got lackluster support from the party. He named a conservative running mate and the entire party got energized in 24 hours. He went from a slim chance in hell to having an overwhelming chance at becoming the next liberal president of the United States.
There are more conservatives in the country than there are republicans or democrats or liberals, when we like a candidate they get elected when we don’t the democrats win. That is a fact of life. With Governor Palin, Senator McCain has a better chance.
Senator Obama, chose a Washington insider and in doing so doomed his chances.
The two party system is a joke because we don’t have one in America.
