Russell Brand, for those who don't know, is an English celebrity who is a celebrity for no apparant reason. Nobody knows why he exists, or how he managed to steal the limelight, but it happened, we're sorry.
He turned up to the MTV Awards yesterday, here's what he said:
Early in his opening monologue, Brand pleaded: "Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world."
Partisanship, of course, can hurt sales. But Brand was refreshingly ignorant of many of the concerns that keep the lips of American pop stars zipped. For good measure — and surely stepping over the line — Brand referred to President Bush as "that retarded cowboy fellow."
Sure, a bit of fun, but why should Americans pay any attention whatsoever to what the rest of the world think about their choice as president? Since when is a jumped up little 'comedian' qualified to urge the public of America to vote either way?

Shifting to NME now, because AP didn't quote him properly, he said:
"Some people-- I think they're called 'racists' may not be ready to elect a black man, he said, adding, "It was nice of you to let that retarded cowboy have a go at it."
"New music, a new president, a brand new America. You deserve it after eight years of Bush," he said.
In typical Brand fashion, he mocked the alleged virginity of teen heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers, as well as the troubled upbringing of the Jacksons.
Because 'troubled' people are hilarious, aren't they?
Frankly, the upbringing of the Jacksons was a tragedy. Talented, healthy young people have now become... well... Michael Jackson.
You can clearly see why the next PM, David Cameron, announced we are living in a 'Broken Britain' a few weeks ago. It seems Brand isn't happy with the fact that growing proportions of Britons have no self-respect, no family-values and increasing STIs, he wants to encourage slutiness and 'cool' policies such as no legislation against infanticide, and devout Christian Americans paying for abortions and STI-related operations, under a universal-healthcare system (just as in his beloved Britain).
This comes after Madonna, who at least is American, compared John McCain to Adolf Hitler, and Barack Obama to Mohandas Gandhi. (i'm sure everybodies seen it, but below is the link)

Surely in a world where increasing numbers of people respect 'celebrities' above their own family, these 'celebrities' shouldn't be preaching messages which are wildly innacurate, libel, and ignorant?
Oh and he's not really 'famous' in Britain
