40k 3PS in development

Well there has been a leaked demo of "Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine."

 

I think it looks ok, assuming it doesn't come out for a year and half or more. Plus I personally think it should be more squad based but thats just me.

Looks very nice, Well seeing the xbox 360 logo at the begin certainly tells us the first platform it is on. But is the PS3 and PC in any information in relation to the leak? Just wondering, I doubt anything else is known other than the video.

But I want a squad based coverin', firein', flankin' and chargin' 40K MMO that bridges the gap between action game and wargame!

The combination of skilled PVP, awesome single player/small team/large team and huge team missions with super accssesable squad forming and role distrobution on top of a robust progression (RPG) system would simply be too awesome for words.

 

Unfortunatly I doubt that will happen. Instead I expect cheap low numbers meele focused single player only games OR ability based slow fights where we all stand out in the open (basicaly Tabula Rousa).

Ooh, hopefully it won't be a Tabula Rousa. I hope it stays in development for at least two years. I was slightly disappointed with their first first-person shooter. The one with the Tau. Anyway, hopefully this will turn out good.

This isnt the MMO I thought. Or am I wrong?

 

EDIT: yeah, I was right.

 

Its gonna be late 2009 at best before we get *ANY* info on the 40K MMO which is the only one I care about.

(Space Marine is a God of War 'clone', gameplay wise. Probably console only too.)

 

What 40K fans and action fans alike want is the intro to Dawn of War - as a playable game...

Same. But what everyone here is forgetting is that this is extremely early footage. Space Marine may not even be the final title. Plus look at the grenade explosion, that's how you  can tell it's in early development.

Yeah I hope no one badly judges the game from this footage. I actualy thought it looked awesome for a meele focused action game. (I prefer heavy bolters and flamers though, chain swords and fists are for when you see a break in thier lines and you charge. )

I think it should be squad based too.

 

The animation transissions are.. non-exsistence.

And the camera angle thing is just kind of dumb.   It needs to just turn some, and not instantly snap the view..

 

Kind of like CoD4, the slight camera movements when doing actions like reloading and stuff, those are cool, but applied the 3rd person.

I'm not really sure how I feel about the "cinemaction" and overkill sequences, especially if they're occuring as often as they are in that video.  I'll definitely file this one away under the "check back later" stack.

Screw the MMO, I hate them.

What I want, is just what they got, and the option of going Chainsword and Pistol, or Bolter or Plasma gun or Flamer..Etc..

It needs to be Squad-based, even a Space Marine isn't THAT invincible...

And It needs to have a grander scale, like, I wanna see 100's of cultists charging me, enough time for me to freak out, before 20 or so of Space Marine AI's cut them down with a line of holy bolter fire.

But, considering it's THIS early, I'm way impressed.

That is what they are building, if it has a squad it will be a very small squad. That game is a MEELE COMBAT game, the guns are just there for show more than anything, not killing.

 

And your squad based, large scale game sounds just like an MMO, how strange....

Aractian, try playing Star Wars: Republic Commando, and you'll get the gist of what I'd like to see.

Except with more action going on around you, and you have troops all with you and enemies against you, but that's more wistful thinking on my part.
