How to play Vasari (well)

So for TEC and advent I know how to play well. I also know about what my later game fleet will look like (hoshikos and kodiaks for TEC, lots of illums, guardians for advent) with of course some wiggle room for what my opponent is doing. Of course I always spam fighters too, no matter what.

But for Vasari, I really don't know. I build assialents like crazy in the beginning to push that advantage, and research phase missles to push that advantage, but then I'm at a loss.

What does a good mid game - end game fleet look like for vasari? What am I going for here?

Multiplayer btw

PS don't give me that "oh it depends" stuff. I get it ok? I just need a baseline as to what a strong, well balanced vasari fleet looks like.

Oh, it depends.

I'd think Subverters for the disable and perhaps overseers for the health boost would be useful. And their heavy cruisers.

Then again, I don't play online...

Oh, it depends. :)

Personally, I just go for balanced fleets. 50 of each does nicely in the way of offense and self-protection. Then keep building in sync. Thats with 2 of each capital ship, or if you can depending on the game, 3 of each. Always though, I try to have at least 100 strike craft per fleet, rising to 150 if possible.

For each way of spamming a ship, there is a counter, so balanced fleets are only really overcome by sheer numbers and better tactics. So a balanced fleet that maxes out the ship allowance, is difficult to beat if your tactics use its strengths.

once mid game LRF spam is over, a balanced fleet works well. subverters, carriers, hc and ur remaining assailents. use hard counters against spam.

also keep contorl of neutrals by leaving a few subjugators and assailents at applicable planets, they'll kill any scouts/colonizers floating around.

economy wise, research improved harvesting a few levels, and dump ore/crystal on the blackmarket in bulk when prices are high with shift+click(sells/buys 500 instead of 100)

No one's even going to mention Returning Armada or getting a Level 6 egg?

I'll mention RA and the Space Egg of Doom.  Of course, RA for v1.1 won't be a decisive win any longer.  Subverters are great for the illum spammers.  If they have Gaurdians, they still work, but you need to subvert them before they repulse you.

The biggest advantage that Vasari have early game is that you get LRFs with one lab.  They are a great rush race.  They are also a good end game race.  However, be careful mid-game, because that is when they are weakest.

Level 6 space eggs are the best hands down - 2-3 of those with fleets draining multiple planets can completely cripple an opponent and make you resource rich beyond your wildest dreams.

not to mention the fire-and-forget nanobots with an insanely fast recharge that shred most ships in 1 shot

^^^

And they completely ignore shields.

Thing I don't like about caps is that any decent fleet will be able to focus fire them and take out your valuable caps in less than 30 seconds each.

subverters work well

and if you're the type of person who likes elite but few units vasari is the race to use

if u like to attack planets the jarasul evacuator( space egg) has the planet drain ability
