While it is impossible to stop protestors with the constitution in the U.S.A, why are they being given so much freedom?

An 83 year old Republican delegate had to be treated for breathing difficulties after 'anti-war' and 'anarchy' protestors assaulted civilians. If they are protesting in favour of anarchy, shouldn't they be given zero-tolerence as they are, in fact, treasonous?

Just what, precisely, are the Minnesotan police doing to protect these people? When the Democrats where partying, there were very good police protections for them. Now that Republicans are having their turn, the police seem more lenient/lax.

While the police are doing a good job for most people, protecting most people just isn't enough. In Germany there would already be a virtually solid wall of riot-police around perimeters and there is no way delegates would be forced to park outside the protected perimeters. Are the U.S. police so inept that they can't even protect delegates at the RNC?

As long as the protest is peaceful that it shouldn't matter what they are saying be it advocating anarchy, the KKK, etc.  Once the protest becomes violent every one of the protesters should be arrested and detained for at least 24 hours to determine if any one individual is more culpable than the others.  Violent protests should never be tolerated.

Agreed.  It really depends upon the leadership of the city however.  Some are so afraid of getting nailed with a label, they bend over backwards to accomodate the protestors.  Others, nail them early.  I dont think it is really a democrat or republican thing, just a mayor thing.  And their party sometimes matters, but their leadership matters more.

I also suspect there is a determination to not let the protesters get away with pushing their buttons.  The whole assinine "Recreate '68" thing.  The mainstream media here would like nothing more than a calamatous riot outside the RNC; anything that could be used to besmirch, or construed to be the fault of, the Republicans, especially President Bush.  It's just a fact of life in the good ole US and A. :w00t:
