Backstory

Will there be any backstory for the demigods available? I know it matters little but it helps to pick a favorite and to get some idea of how they are supposed to play rather than through trial and error. With 8 (i believe) demigods available there shouldn't be too much to come up with a little 1 page synopsis on each of them.

Well there are going to be quests for each demigod (solo play), by that I understand that the "backstory" are those quests.

There will be backstory of each Demigod. Some of it revealed when picking the Demigod, some revealed as the single player game progresses.

So there is going to be a single player campaign that will be in the final version.

What I heard indicated that it would be made of a series of quests, but I'd love a dev to translate that out of vague.

Definite tease, but I must say that I got that little clue from frogboy, not tyo.

Well quests / Campaign same thing right?

The only difference I see if you might be able to go back to one youve allready betten.

Quests in my view indicates that you'll be given a series of objectives to accomplish, sometimes in groups, not necessarily in order, so it should be a bit more freeform than the traditional RTS scriptathon. I like the sounds of it a lot, I just wish I had more info.

Hm when you say it like that way, more like missions rather then a storyline... but I wonder how leveling is going to work...

In the campaign? I assume you'll earn meta-experience for how well you do fulfilling all the objectives along the way. Just a guess though, devs feel free to correct me.

I just hope the quests are more than just a skirmish mode with a few bits of story attached.  Personally, I'd like to see it be very rpg-like.  They could even rebalance the mooks and general minions to be more like standard rpg enemies.  Basically, I'd like to see the single player be MUCH different than what I'd see in skirmish and multiplayer.  Otherwise, I'd rather play multiplayer; maybe a skirmish or two for my first games.

I think that they will be if they do the campaign right. Have meta strategy involved, storyline woven in and all that jazz, then I'll be happy. I want it to feel like the total war games, where all the battles are minor acts in a greater story rather than the entire focus.

Since your Demigod is competing with the other Demigods for ascension, does that mean you finish off the other demigods or you just gain power by completing tasks (ie destroying enemy bases).  If you have to off the other Demi's, does that mean there will be a cut scene after you've destroyed an enemy base to where you finish off a demigod (rated T for teen eh...).  I'm curious how they will implement this.

I think the way the maps are set up, each of the locations are set as eternal struggles or a balance of forces.  When 1 demigod (or team of demigods) turns the tide and destroys the opposing side, the balance is lost and that power is up for the taking (for the victors).  So, it could be that the single player starts out with a 4v4 map.  Your side wins, granting power to those 4 demigods.  As single player progresses, demigods grow in power and the maps get smaller until the final showdown with an opposing demigod 1v1, or even possibly a 1 v 7 (heck ya!).

There's alot of possibilities and I hope its fun, replayable, and rewarding.

I think that once you beat a demigod conclusively, all the big gods tell him or her to go kill themselves, they aren't going to be gods anytime soon.

I like that idea of lopsided teams at the end, that sounds fun.
