D3D9.DLL was not found

I installed the software and then tried to run it and I got this message "A required .DLL file, D3D9.DLL, was not found." Where can I find it?

It most likely means that you don't have directX 9 installed. You can find if for download at microsoft's site.

Chancellor, are you using the version right off the CD or did you update with the 1.02 patch? If you do not have the 1.02 patch, please go to the downloads section on this page and get it. If you have the patch or you continue to experience problems once you install the patch, please run dxdiag and send the report to me at Email

Here are instructions for running dxdiag in case you need them:

1) Click on your windows start button
2) Click on Run
3) type the word dxdiag in the dialog box and click OK.
4) Allow it to check to see if your drivers are digitally signed, let it run its tests
5) Click Save all information and save the file somewhere you'll be able to find it.
