Can we join a Battle After the Launch?

 

How the game will be ?

A 5vs 5 game, Ok

But

What if someone leave ? will he have Malus Points / Handicap / Karma / Etc Given by Server or Players

Another player can join a 4 vs 5 game ? to fill the empty slot (perhaps in the First 10/ mn of the game)

A 3vs5 will have an AutoBalance Option ? => Swap Players Between teams to make a 4vs4 Game

probably not

it's a RTS, you don't add players after the start

and teams will probably be lockable at the game options menu

It could be an interesting game mode though.  Something set before the game starts though.  Then again, games may not go back and forth long enough for it to really matter.

I'd like to see poeple join in the middle and get the average gold/xp of all the players in the game.

 

I'd prefer "wait a minute maybe someone will take his place" over "oh fuck it's 4vs5.  I guess i'll remake. Everyone leave."

Or Perhaps an Option like Joining a Game is Possible until 10/20 mn after start

In order to deal
Leavers during Loading , or AFK , Or Feed&Leave , Or leave after 1rst blood/death , etc

As long as it would be optional or can be limited to certain playes via a password or something like that.

Don´t like this idea.

I want to join games which aren´t in progress yet in order to have a bigger choice of demigods.

I think he means if they had Unique demigods enabled. Then it raises another issue.

All the game stats(current levels, time playing) all the hosts options would need to be displayed in a games lobby. And with most RTS games the way it works is you join a lobby, Pick your faction(demigod in this case) then when everyone is ready you launch. If you coudl join midway through they'd need a splash screen while in game to pick your Demigod. which is yet another thing, And you'd also have a game wide slowdown as other players attempted to connect to the new arrival. You also have to hope he can connect to everyone in the game or you might get a desync.

How many games ruined by leavers , in dota ?

Some of them leave by lack of Luck ( 24h Disconection) , Shoot in the Plug , Reboot Cause of C°/F° of the Laptop , Battery , etc

Some others cause they loose 1rst death , Chain dead , Too Stronger enemy

And the others Cause they re A-social ( can t leave in Society) , Feed ans Leave , Flame and leave , Whine and leave , AFK and leave
Etc

If , when someone Disturb the game and leave, the idea is to still have an Enjoyable game , with Enjoyable people for an Enjoyable experience

In a Fair and Square ambiance ( Even if you play with a Cloaked and Sneaky Assassin =)

You're absolutely right.  The games lobby needs to list the options so you know whether or not it has UniqueDemigods=True or what have you.

 

You have a point though, that since it's peer2peer, there would likely be a quite noticable hiccup when someone joins and syncs up.

I am guessing not. When someone joins, the game would have to be paused and streamed to the person joining. Game saves were large in SupCom because it needs to save the entire Lua engine state.

Not sure if I like the concept.  Its like starting World of Warcraft at level 40. 

Additionally, who your opponents are should affect your skill selection and item choices.  Having different Demi's coming in will be a disruption.

What happens when you join in a 4v5 to find your team's base nearly destroyed?  Take the loss?

Swapping players mid game would have the same affect.  You've played a well the entire game in a 5v5.  Your team pushes and starts hammering the opponents base.  Two players leave and suddenly your find yourself on the losing team.

I think it would be an unwanted interruption.  If a player drops, let the "sophisticated AI" take over.
