Change log for 1.5 (Beta)

We decided to do a beta for version 1.5 so that we can test this on more systems than we have here.  This should be a very stable beta, but if you're worried, you can archive 1.04 from the orb menu in Impulse.

+ NEW: Impulse Reactor games
  + Multiplayer games now listed on the Community tab of Impulse - Join a game without having to launch TPM first!
  + Clicking on the Create button on the Community tab will launch the game in multiplayer mode so that you can start choosing game settings immediately
  + Earn achievements which will be stored on-line.
  + Multiplayer setup screen now connects to #polmachine on irc.stardock.com
  + Network code now uses threads to prevent disconnects when alt-tabbed out of the game
 
+ NEW: Added Print Shop screen
    + Accessible from Title screen
   + Select a candidate, select a template, and hit Print
   + Uses new printer library to get default printer and copy mwins to the page
   + Added PrintShopTemplates.xml to specifiy the templates
   + Added placeholder thumbnail images for templates

+ NEW: Snapshot now creates a 50x50 jpg that can be used as your avatar image in your Impulse account (like my new one!)

+ NEW: Elements to create new candidates

+ NEW: Password protected games

+ Various fixes and tweaks

the Acheivemnets additions sounds cool! You can't complain about additions for custom candidates either!

With this update, I'm unable to play multiplayer games. It tells me to go to Impulse to update my game, even though I'm fully updated.

As a temporary workaround, you can edit the version string in the registry, although if you try to join a game with someone who actually has the 1.04 version, you'll have problems.

On XP, you go to Start->Run and type in regedit
In Vista, you just type regedit in the Search field
Then, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to Softare->Stardock->Drengin.net->PolMachine. Right click on Version, choose modify, and enter 1.04.036

On impulse, if you click the stardock orb, youll be able to select 'show pre release versions'.

I like the looks of the Print Shop. Nice idea.

 

Unfortunately, I have the same problem as Clumsy Satellite. When I click Multiplayer, the username/password dialog appears. I enter my information (correctly), and it says you must update to the latest version.

It goes without saying you would know better than I would, but I wonder if Impulse (if that's what it's going through to connect) thinks the latest version is 1.4, perhaps because 1.5 is a prelease.

Is there a candidate exchange feature in this, and if so, is it in the multiplayer screen?

Still can't play this game, even with the update. Here's my latest debug... please... please... please... tell me how to make it work. I can't get my money back anymore.

Can we expect an overhaul of the advertising system (as I think has been discussed elsewhere) on TPM08, or will this be more likely to be added to a TPM12 game?

mheckler: Man, it still dosent work?!?!  We have found nothing wrong with your specs, and every time we cobble together a machine to try and reproduce your bug we get nothing but game  :(

You've been working pretty regurally with us to try and fix the game, so I'm sure the 'send in the box and we'll give you a refund' policy should uphold. Just contact [email protected], link so some of these posts, explain our failure to find out what's wrong, and they can get a refund to you.

Perhaps the problem (whatever it is) will be fixed for TPM '12  ;)

Khamul89: No, I'm afraid it's too late to get that in at this point. That's something that would need to be playtested to get balanced, and with November looming, I'd hate to spend that time on a cool new feature that only gets enjoyed for a week ;)

We have alot of great ideas though, so TPM '12 will be extra cool on the advertisement front.

Also, be looking out for a new library channel on www.wincustomize.com that will let you upload/download new candidates to use in v1.5  :)
