I Gave Them Away

I made my delivery over in RI last week, picked up a dozer in CT, and a 7,000 lbs steel door in PA, and hauled them back to WI.

On the way across NY state I stopped in at a small road house with truck parking. I used to visit there failry often but as I don't normally go out that way much any more I hadn't been there in a few years. The place hadn't changed too much. They still have truck parking and a large "Truckers Welcome" sign.

The biggest change is that the joint has never owners since I last visited. A couple of Jamaican guys bought it and pretty much left it as it was. I talked with them for a while. Couple of pretty nice guys.

Naturally I was knitting while sitting at the bar. A woman made a big fuss over my knitting, telling me she and her husband just stopped in for a quick drink on the way to her knitting group.

Another woman, who came in a while after that lady left, really liked my knitting and kept asking me if I could make a nice warm hat for her. Of course I told her that it wasn't too likely I'd be back there any time in the near future. After some more pleading from her I walked out to the truck, grabbed one of the hats I had made before, and took it back in to give her.

She realy seemd to like it.

This is the one I gave her.

We had a company safety meeting this morning so I stayed at the hotel near the yard last night. Naturaly I visited Applebee's while there. I was joined by a couple of other drivers.

The bartender there was asking me about the hat I was supposed to make for her. Honestly, I just hadn't got around to it. I showed her the one I had just made to match the sapphire blue sweater, and as she liked it I gave it to her. What the hell, I can always whip up another one. I would have at least liked to have shot a pic of it, but hadn't even done that yet. Oh well.

I am now hauling a three stop load back East again. I have one stop near Philly, and the other stops are in NJ. Not my favorite places, but it pays well. I had planned on heading home, and "R" did have a FL load ready to go, but he also mentioned this run which pays quite a bit more.

I guess I can stay out another week.

The solution is obvious.  Get a picture of her wearing it!

Thanks. I got the pleasure of making them, might as well let someone else enjoy wearing them I guess.

Great suggestion! I'll see if I can set that up.
