Stuck Plane, Missing Ohio Movie Director...

So in the above image you may notice that red seated plane.  It's been sitting there in that motionless state for weeks now.  I don't know what it was before decided to make that piece of aerospace it's permanant home but never the less I don't think it should be doing that.  I have the latest version of TPM 2008.

The other issue could be that I just didn't read the text completely but...

I landed in one of the states and got the Television Director bonus which I believe substantially reduces the cost of creating advertising (maybe even half which is a GREAT bonus) however after clicking the button marked done (I believe) the Television director never appeared anywhere on the map, certainly not in that state and or if he's tiny and hidden behind one of the other icons then I can't find any list of all my placed objects to select him from so I can't use him if he is on the map and just hidden somewhere.

Im really new to TPM 08 so maybe there is a list that I just don't know about that lists all of the items that I have placed so that I can choose the Television Director from that list and start putting him to work?  The only list that I can find is the Assets list but it doesn't let me select any operatives from that list, it only shows me a list of them.  It would be really nice if I could select my operatives from that assets list directly.

Anyway, I got the movie director in Ohio, but he's nowhere to be found in Ohio or any other state of the union.  I've moved the map around to look behind the other operative standing in Ohio but the movie director is not to be found.

Thanks,

Okay, I had to cycle through a very long list using the "tab" key, until it chose the movie director and then I had him selected and could move him out of Ohio (which is where he was), he must have been inside a building or under the ground, so that problem is solved, however I think the game needs some help in this regard to where items such as this don't get hidden or obstructed by anything when they come into play on the board, they should always be put in the forefront and they should be able to be selected from the assets list otherwise the assets list is less useful then it really should be.

So I guess that just leaves that plane sitting there stuck that should probably be looked at by the developers in case it's sitting there sucking up CPU power or something doing infinte loops while trying to figure out how to make it'self disappear from the board.  I don't know, it's probably not doing anything of the kind, it's probably just abandoned. <_<

Okay, theres another problem with the movie director or I don't understand how he can be used.  I finally selected him from the long list of assets using the tab key, then I move him to Tennessee, I then created a Television ad in tennesee, and indeed the prices were halved.

I then selected the movie director thinking to move him to another state, but now he won't move anymore.  He's now permanantly "stuck" in Tennessee.

Is he a one off use item?  Can't he be used over and over agian until my opponent sends someone to take him out of the game?  I would think  that he is like the rest of the objects and can be utilized until the opponent sends a fixer to take him off the board.  But now he won't move anywhere on the board.

The only one off guys are the fixers. The reason why the movie director was hidden is becuase when you got him from the question mark(orignally in Ohio apparently) you never actually placed him. Certain characters, from the question marks, such as Movie Directors, Media Darlings, etc. can only be placed in one state. Their effects last throughout the rest of the game. In the little description box about the certain characters(when you first recieve them and I believe when you click on them.) it will mention they cannot be moved from state to state. The same goes with kooks who remain in the state they were found. Tip keep an eye out for your opponents kooks, in some swing states they can bring a hurtful bonus to your opponent.

I've had the plane probelm occasionaly. Save and Load always worked for me.

Thanks for the reply,

I'll just reiterate incase Brad or anybody else that can change things might take it under consideration...

PLEASE provide an alternate way to select objects on the map...  I placed one of the +4% objects (the lady that appears in the screen with the objects you can choose like where the fixer is) and then tried to select her.  No go!  No matter what I try I can't click on her.  Everytime I try to click on her, it selects the state instead.  I then place a second one, and try to click on that one so that I can move one of them to another state and again, I can't select that one either, as everytime I click, I get the state instead.  It's not like Im mis-clicking, Im clicking all over the women icon, but it's as if she's not even there.

I figured, maybe I need to advance the time a turn since I just placed them, so I pressed my space bar to advance the turn and tried clicking on both of them again and still can't click on them.  My only options at this point will be to cycle through an obscenely long TAB list until I get to them so that I can move them.  It's not worth the trouble really.  So please fix this issue AND OR give an alternate way of selecting the objects.

Possible solution...  Double Click on a state and in the window that appears for the states information, include the objects that are placed in that state and allow me to select one of my own objects from there.  That would be quite handy.

I may have to try this with the 2D icons to see if it has this issue with that method as it's too frustrating to play the game when I can't select objects part of the time.

I've had similar probelms at times. Usually when a swing state, mainly Ohio, gets chaulk full towards the end of the game. I will say I bought this game due to what at least felt like unprecedented custormer care with the Galactic Civilization 2 game. This game having a smaller market, it's understandably recieves less attention. Customer Service with Stardock is second to none though.

I've been lucky in that my full extent of needing to contact Stardock has been to move some of the programs that I bought a long time ago using an email address that I couldnt use anymore transfered over to a newer email address.  I had to do this twice over the past 4 years or so and they handled it quickly and efficiently both times.

I would hope that regardless of how big or small their market is for the game (after all it was their decission to do this game to begin with) I will still hope that they will fix issues with the game as they appear.  I was trying to find a demo prior to my purchase of the game yesterday at best buy store, but found a post by Brad I think that said that they are working ot get the bugs out before they use that code for the demo and that they might expect a demo in about September 08.  So I figure if they are still planning on putting out a demo, then they might still be planning on shaking the rest of the bugs out of the game, with the selection bug (which is what I now call it) being part of what they might fix I hope, and or add the method of selection that I wrote about above because as you mentioned, when the states are chalked full of objects it's going to be even worse trying to select the object that I want.

alls I meant is the less income the game is projected to recieve the less time they will be allowed to spend on it. Gal Civ 2 was major project game and received tremendous attention. They have other new major titles they are curently working on now aswell. They give much better than average attention to the political machine then most majors companies give major releases, take such games as any EA title, The total war series, the sid meirs civilization series.
