My first Necron victory

My first Necron victory

How I kicked ass

Played my first skirmish with my Necron Warriors, and it turned out, it was my first victory too! Last Thursday it was my 19th birthday and, since I did so well in my Leaving Cert (355 points, plus all the grades needed for the course I want in college), I decided to go into Dublin to go to Games Workshop, and I have to say, it was brilliant!

Everyone in the shop was very nice, and they were very helpful! I learned new painting techniques for my Necron Warriors and I got the help I wanted to finish painting my Necron Lord. I had my suitcase with me full of 21 fully painted and armed Necron Warriors (the suitcase was a gift from my younger brother, to hold my Warhammers) and a fresh Necron Lord. I started talking to a few people and ended up fighting a small 500 point skirmish with a boy probably 13 or so.

He collected the Tyranids and he had many strong units in his arsenal. It was an ahnillation match, no survivors. In the beginning I performed badly, he was blasting my units away from afar, with dangerous Genestealers closing in fast along with a badass mofo Tyranid! Huge thing! What I had to my advantage, ironically, was superiour firepower and more models. I was not able to blast from afar, but I could certainly cut them down to size before they got to me. I quickly ahnilated a unit of Genestealers, but another one closed in fast. Nothing for me to do, I sent a unit of my warriors to take the brunt of the next assault, as running wouldn't have taken me far enough and my Necron Lord was being protected with my other unit of Necron warriors. I needed a shield for my lord and the other unit was the one. I quickly lost 4 Necrons throughout the battle. My constant fear was that he'd ahnilate enough of my troops to activate the 'Phase Out' Rule (basically it means that if I have 25% forces left or lower on the field that follow the Necron special rules then I automatically lose). This fear was heightened when I lost almost my whole warrior unit, with one sole survivor left. Under the circumstances, it fled, and was cut down when the Tyranid leader rolled the dice and got a number higher then mine. Victory looked bleak, because if I lose 4 more units I lose automatically. But luck was with me, my 'We'll Be Back Roll' (allows me to revive fallen models that follow the Necron special rule, must roll a 4+ to use) was a success and all of the units that fell in the assault phase stood back up! The Genestealers, shocked with such a feat, were quickly cut down, with the Necron unit behind them pumping gauss weaponry into the Tyranid onslaught. The huge Tyranid, alone in close combat, quickly fell in the onslaught. The Tyranid model, pumping Blast radius dmg to my units throughout the whole combat, fled under the orders of the Hive Mind. With that, I won!!

Such victory did come at a price, but a small one and well worth it. The Necrons then cleansed the area of all biological life, even down to microscopic life, and began marching on. Looking for more living creatures to kill for their dark, sadistic god, the Nightbringer.

Who's next?

yes it is decaying they would regress backwards but from that i belive it would emerge greater than before plus if the emperor did die then some of the primarches would reapper i know atleast one of the ones who hasnt sucumbed to chaos is held in stais (mostly rumor but it is largly held)

whos been playing the logest just wondering i started edtion 248 august of white dwarf which was the 3rd war of armagedon 3rd edtion of the rules and stoped playing when the 4th edtion came out and im just dusting off my black templars.

Quote: "i think that if (when ?) then astronomican fails, the humans wont be able to use warp space any more and wont be able to make something up to cover the loss.
think about it ...the members of the Imperium have been using the same stinking old technology for millenia and even the adeptus mecanicus does nt understand how the things they build work. Dradnaughts, titans, warp-space engines, are all just built following dusty plans. not a single one of them UNDERSTANDS how the technology works. they have virtually no research going on and they probably dont know how to build a lightbulb without the "Standard construction plans" (or whatever they call them).
In short: the empire is decaying on every level, it cant oppose the Greater good forever."

Its not the Greater Good humanity needs to worry about its MY PLAGUE MARINES. Even now Pappa Nurgle is getting over exicitted with the idea of the Imperium decaying. And you know when that fat, rotting corpse frog thing comes afer you your in serious trouble.  On a more serious note I was under the impression that the emporers immenent death is just an excuse to bring back the old fluff about 'Star Child'. But then again I haven't played 40 k for sometime.... I though I'd give WFB a go about a year ago and haven't come back. Even now my plague marines getting a bit hyperactive over how much dust is gathering up on them.

You are all fools!
In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.

BTW: Is anyone still playing Epic? That was always my favourite GW game...

You cannot be death through plauge, only a Necron can be death. They serve the Nightbringer, the Grim Reaper, he has many names but they all are the same to one god. Join the Necrons!

you cant join the necron, they just want to kill you ^^

but you can join the Imperial Guard. billiones of men from more then a million different world. Led by the evere lasting light of the God Emperor

The ever failing light of the God Emperor, that is. Sometimes the Necrons take humans and turn them into th Pariahs, since they are a cross between machine and human. That's why they can't regenerate after death on the battlefield.

you mean pariahs were really humans once ?
i thought that they were just upgrades of the "base" necrons :SURPRISED:
how do they make them into pariahs ? they take their brains out and put them in the machine body ?(like for the cybermen ?) and if its so, can they still feel emotions and refuse to kill humans ?
or do they just take their souls or something and erase their memories ?

by the way, i'd never join the imperial guard, i read somwere that the life expectancy there is somwere between 15 hours and a few months  ;p
Id rather join the Tau then take a holiday break on Auu'Tal (warm, sunny, not polluted and too far in the Tau empire to be threatened, the perfect summer resort)
yeah i know ... big lazy me taking a break when the galaxy is torn apart by constant warfare (now ... were did i put my sunglasses and swimming suit ?)

Try it on another one of the Stardock websites, such as impulsedriven.com or joeuser.com. Or wait a day or two and it might randomly appear like mine.

Yeah, their Bantha Fodder in the battlefield. They live that long because their not that good or, in some horrible cases, not well equipped. They rely on numbers and, I grudgingly admit, some nice tanks to hold their own. They're like the Tyranids, except instead of close-range they deal death from afar, if they hit and the bullets are strong enough. I don't know the exact procedure of the Pariah, except that it's a hybrid between human and machine. Depending on how strong the person is they retain a little bit of their former selves. One group of the Assasins have the Pariah gene in them, thus explaining why psychers fear them. But it's this reason why Pariahs are not granted a "We'll Be Back" roll, because they are a hybrid of both human and machine. Also, just to shock you Imperials out there, allot of your technology comes from Necron technology. We also have The Dragon on Mars! Hehe, can't wait till they add him in the Codex, imagine the fun...
