It just wont work! :(

Well DeskScape isnt working for me and i have no idea whats the problem :( First i tryed 1.02 version (since i have ultimate) with wich i was able to use only that bouncing box and none other dream... Tryed 2.0 and now i cant even start bouncing box... I have codecs, had K-Lite + got that Power DVD 8 too, so i doubt it have something to do with codecs! As soon as i start any of dreams my screen goes black and hides all icons on desktop, only able to see taskbar and when i'm trying to change to other dream im starting to see previous only its not moving... just a simple wallpaper with no action... :( Could someone explain to me wheres the problem here? Tnx! Running: Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit on Intel Q6700 Core 2 Quad, Asus EN8800GTS 640Mb, 4Gb RAM...

I can't really help all that much but I had a Video card crash the other day when I installed deskscapes. I am wondering what you have for a video card.

If you have Vista Ultimate, you should not have needed any additional codecs.I have Home Basic and v 2.00.055DeskScapes run just fine.(v.058 is another story) Video card is NVidia6150SE, hardly high end.I suspect that it is a codec issue, and you should revert back to the ones that came with Vista. You may want to make sure your drivers are up to date also.
Sorry I can't be much more help than that.

When you load a DeskScape wallpaper, open Taskmanager and see what the CPU is running at.

You mean CPU usage? If so then it runs to ~40% and then drops down to 5-10% and stays there... Cant see any process if thats what ya ment (no idea what should it run anyway lol) only thing that looks weird is that explorer using 183Mb memory... Btw now when started dream its not totally black but image blinks time after time... Still no other action! Can make a screen of all running proceses if ya need?

explorer using 183Mb memory

Wow.....you might want to post a screen of the processes so I can see what's causing that kind of usage.

You have any software installed that gives the GPU temp?

K, heres a screenie with task manager + how those dreams looks for me... http://img137.imageshack.us/my.php?image=85995014rx3.jpg and temperature http://img137.imageshack.us/my.php?image=23859172yv9.jpg

The die temp is a bit high for idle, but your fan is only at 37...so that's not the problem.

As to Explorer....looking at your processes I don't even know where to begin.... ;p  How many AV's are you running or have installed?

As for the dreams, which ones won't work...? (ie: are they all wmv or any video types)

With DeskScapes 2.0 and Ultimate you get the option to use the internal player or not. On the screen where you can pick your dream, there should be a check box to turn it on and off. Try changing it.

I believe your problem is the Video Card. I have the same one. Our systems are very similiar. Nvidia released a driver update (Vista)to fix a bug with these cards but it didn't help me. Mine crahses if I try to update my WIndows Expeerience score. I only had an intital crash after installing deskcapes. It seems to work fine now. Maybe the driver update helped but I can't be sure.

can ya give me direct link to that driver update? Dun wanna do it from dispay settings, last time tryed from there it installed way older version + not even for my video card...

Latest driver direct from Asus is version 169.25 (scroll down VGA list to find) WWW Link

Latest from Nvidia is release 175.19 (I'd try this and see if it works) WWW Link

Those are handy little info tools you have there [in your screenshots], Nafigs.

I just downloaded the CPU & GPU ones and gave them a whirl. Great info output for both!

Best part is that they're not installs, you just have to run them.

Anyone that wants to check them out can find them at http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/ They're the second & third in the list on that page.

So thanks for the screenshots!  :CONGRAT:

I really hope you get your issue with the dreams corrected :)

Nafigs, the internal player option is here:

Have you tried uninstalling both DeskScapes and DreamScene, reboot, then reinstall them?

A little late, but have you tried rebooting after changing a dream? I know it should not be behave this way, but I found Deskcapes also buggy beyond believe if you tried to change a dream. After a reboot the dream often would run just fine (until I changed the dream again). Even then, some dreams just won't work at all.
