How do you use phase stabalizer/tunneler tech?

I've tried building these things with Vasari but My ships still don't go straight from one planet to the other (both have the gate built).

edit--Is there a website out there with more accurate ability/tech descriptions?  I've tried searching but this game barely seems to exist.

Have you tried clicking on the phase stabalizer when you tell your units to jump? I had this problem this morning, I took my fleet at a planet with a stabalizer and clicked another planet with the stabalizer and they took the long route. I'm just guessing about the clicking on the stabalizer thing, but it is worth a shot. If that doesn't work then it was a glitch at that time. Your units should automatically jump to the planet with the stabalizer if told to do so, you dont have to turn anything on with them.

oh and I meant right clicking, not just selecting it.

Ya musta just screwed up, I made a new game and tried again and they worked.

There have been multiple reports of recently constructed phase gates not working properly. I don't honestly know if this was the case in your game. Might want to do a search of the forum to find those threads to see if they apply to your situation.

Were you sure both had completed building? I know, many times I will queue up the research and be able to "build" the stabilizers, but they wont actually build until the research is completed. Thats the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, there could be a bug, but I've never had problems with these jumps without not having it researched yet thinking I did. Anyway, when they work, they work fantastically. Anything that saves a few jumps is worth it in my mind. Helps in outflanking the enemy. I just wish they worked between different systems. Still have to go through the star to jump systems. Oh well.

Well in my case at first, the problem was that I told my ships to move too early, but then after it was completed I tried again and they did the same thing. It was weird because after I let the fleet take the long route, my fleet planet bombers jumped the short route. *shrugs* I don't know, weird.

Oh and definitly anything that saves you time is worth it. I think the phase stabalizer is a key element in Vasari planet defense when you are playing a multi star game and when you control most of a system and enemies are invading. I dont put one on all my planets, but there is one in each corner of the system so I normally only have to make 2 jumps with a fleet on the other side of the system instead of the 5 or 6 jumps you would have to make without the stabalizers.

If I remember that thread correctly, after all was said and done, it appeared that it took some time after the planet was colonized before stabilizers would work.

Hmm, perhaps I remembered the details incorrectly. That does sound right now that you mention it. I would have linked the thread myself first time I posted but the search function, as per usual, was borked for me.
