what does Obama stand for

The problem is that Obama doesn't stand for anything.  He is willing to say or be anything to get the moola or the votes of whomever he is speaking to at the moment.  He is a man of zero conviction.  What exactly has he stood strong on.  Nothing that I can see.  Everything is subject to change. 

He seems to have no loyalty to any person or cause.  If everything is about getting elected, exactly who will he be after the election?  I think that is the scariest thought.  The fact that whenever he had a difficult vote, he chose to vote present instead of taking a stand is extremely disturbing to me.  A President should be a person of strong principle and someone who knows their own mind.  A President doesn't get to take a poll every time they make a decision.

Some presidents have tried to take a poll on every decision. Others on none. The former are lionized for "listening to the will of the people" the latter are demonized for being Arrogant.

Obama is not really that much different in that respect from many other candidates. And a few presidents.

This has been my problem from the get go. Obama and many others use the mantra of being for "change" yet no one, and I mean no one, has offered up what the hell that is supposed to mean. Change is such a vague term and could apply to anything and nothing at the same time. Just once I would like to hear someone tell me what Obama wants to "change" and how he plans to do it, as of yet I haven't heard anything.

The only thing that 'changes' is what he stands for. Change is the only constant.

Now that's change we can believe in.

If you want to know what any person stands for, don't look at their words or what they are doing now, look at their past.

Obama went to the same church for 20 years.  Read what his church stands for and you will see what he stands for... no matter what he or his minions try to tell you.

Is being lionized good?

Just once I would like to hear someone tell me what Obama wants to "change" and how he plans to do it, as of yet I haven't heard anything.
I guess the whole point is supposed to be that he's not George W. Bush but then again no matter who wins George w. Bush won't be President anymore. The fact that he tried to portray himself as some "new" politician who was above petty politics is ridiculous when he is the candidate who is most the product of the political machine.

I agree but I also think it says a lot about him that he could be a member of a church for 20 years and then just walk away because it was politically expedient. If someone criticized my church, I would stick with my church not pander to the critics. That is if I were a true believer.

He quit for now, but something tells me when this election is over, if he isn't in the White House, he'll be back in that church.

If the point is that he's not George W. Bush then every single president elected has run on a platform of change. Even W. himself made a few speeches about change being needed after the Clinton administration. Look up W's speech at the 2000 Republican National Convention when he officially accepted the nomination for president. In that speech he said something along the lines that the previous administration saw oil rise to $35/barrel because they had no plan, he claimed to have a plan that could "change" things. Boy was he right, he has changed the price of oil to be nearly 5 times as high as it was when he first took office, sure it's now down to only 4 times as high but still.
