Object Dock 2.0

As a large fan of Object Dock myself I was very happy to see some of the new work being done on Object Dock 2.0. I am very often asked what the plans are for updates and the like. I can now tell you that 2.0 is underway with certainty, I have seen it. The time line is not concrete including months for testing and developing a new UI but I do not think anyone will be disappointed. This isn't a teaser just a polite update on one of the top most questions asked me in these forums.

I can also say that I can't answer definitive questions about it yet because it will be one thing at time with this development. Just a fair warning. :)

Yeah, hope we don't lose features we have already. I love OD and hope for better and better versions. Yay!

That's some really good News

Thanks for the update. :D

As a follow up to this news I wanted to be very clear on what I know, which is to say only a little. Certain portions of the update are scheduled through a few months from now. As I said before there is no projected time but I also didn't want people thinking this was coming out all too soon. I just wanted everyone to know that the update was very much underway. All my previous answers were never able to say even that much definitively, and I thought many would be as happy to read that as I was. :)

Sounds interesting let me see what we can glean here: You've seen it but can't describe it. Lots of new features but can't say anything about them, and no promises....also, no time soon. Oh yes, and this isn't a teaser...just what then? Solid, traditional news reporting?

Look, I love my Object Dock and see it (imo) as probably the most functional aspect of Stardock's products, but this thread says nothing of any real substance.

What a shame, all Seabass was doing was making an attempt at keeping the community informed.  ;)

I guess what I've heard all my life is true, no good deed will go unpunished.  :SURPRISED:

Here is the thing, people have been asking me when this will come out since the first of this year. All I could say is that nothing is going on yet, we haven't abandoned it,.... and so on and so.......blah.

NOW I can at least report that it is underway. What I can't do is tell you anything about what is going on or make promises because anything I say is subject to change and that would be teasing if they removed what I described here. It's just too early to say anything is all.

While news that something is in progress is welcome, it's not very substantial (emphasis on substance). That was all I was trying to say. When I posted about a way to speed up FF3 the responses were less cordial.

Nothing I wrote should be taken personally. I don't agree with the definition of tease:

What I can't do is tell you anything about what is going on or make promises because anything I say is subject to change and that would be teasing if they removed what I described here.

I wouldn't have taken anything described as a "tease", nor as an obligation to produce such features. I would have related to it as a possibility.

Thanks for the effort, though.

can anyone guess what I'm waiting for?

DEEEEEW EEEEET NAO!!

Good to hear that OD updates haven't been forgotten. I would like OD 2.0 to use less memory than the current build. (That's why people have been using other dock apps...)

How long is the wait? Post some screens of the alpha builds!

Seabassss . . would it be possible to get the list of things hte dev will be tryign to address (or thinking about) in teh next build?  New features?  Bug fixes?  Different UI?  Pizza?

Nice Zubish ;p

Pizza?

That sounds like a necessity to me. I mean, c'mon...who doesn't love pizza with their OD? ;)

I don't have any major details beyond the smarter, stronger, faster, million dollar riff answer yet. As details are given to me I will post them. You can be sure of that.
