Ship Upgrades

Ok forgive me for being dumb as I've just bought Dread Lords.

I go to the shipyard and design a new ship with sensors, engines etc. I then go back to the shipyard to upgrade the ship with new technologies. When I click on upgrade, I get the base ship without all the extra equipment I added. So if I simply want to upgrade the engine, I also have to add all the other stuff again.

Surely when upgrading a design, it should include all the equipment, letting me just change a single engine etc?

Look through the options menus, there should be a checkbox 'remove functional components on upgrade' (or 'keep') and check it accordingly. ;)

Sigh... thank you :-) Trying hard to get into this game. The manual isn't the best :-)

There's a manual?

If you're playing Dread Lords, you should watch the tutorial videos. They're actually quite helpful.

Yup. Well I have a pdf manual :-)

I watched the tutorials before playing the game. Now I understand it a bit better I'll watch them again.

Thanks for the help

Actually one of the best things you can do is play the game. Then come here with the questions you have. You can get specific answers to specific questions. Even if there were a good manual, it couldn't get into the finer points of the game.

This is a very helpful forum. So feel free to ask what you don';t know and don't apologize for not knowing. Even veteran played have questions or may have never noticed a certain check box before.

I didn't know about that, and it has bugged me for over a year lol.
