Campaign Problem

On the last Campaign mission, you have to build a Terror Star and destroy the sun around your starting planet.

But when I do so, I get a Defeat message...Why?

Am I doing something wrong, I build a Terror Star as fast as I can and blast destroy the star, why does that not win the scenario?

You have to make sure you own a planet outside the blast radius.

Will speaks the truth here. The dumb Arnorian seems to leave that part out of the mission statement I think.

I think it's more that the game checks for you losing before it checks for you meeting the victory conditions.

Ah! I see, thank you very much. I guess that makes sense.

I'm having trouble blowing up my star :-\.
It asks me to confirm and that I will lose xyz stars. I press yes and nothing happens.

Make sure that you don't have 'view all battle sequences' turned off. The option is something along those lines. For whatever game mechanics reason, the TS doesn't go through it's thing unless it can do the battle sequence.

Ah! Thanks!
I turned it off because watching all the dread lord ships attack my ships one at the time was long.
I would never have found it without you!

Thanks again.

I can't take credit for being the one that originally found this...but this tidbit and the one that Will posted above are two that stick in my head for when I see these posts.

Im having a problem on this mission too.

The Iconians colonized two planets in the system i'm supposed to blow up.
I figured I would be able to trade them these planets when I needed too, but they refuse. Because of the campaign settings I cant brake the alliance.

Is there any way to end this? Or will I have to start over..?

Influence flip them.

Can I flip planets belonging to a race I am "teamed" with?
I did try to do that, but it didnt seem to have any effect.
Two influence starbases, fully upgraded, didnt even seem to piss them off..

I really dont understand this story wise. The Iconians know this system needs to be blown up right?? >_<

In reality, they should. However, the AI is 'flawed' into a colony rush and thus grabbing those planets.
