Tech tree questions

I just got the ToA and I am a tad overwhelmed by the changes especially since I cannot find info about the tech tree and the handicaps of each civilization.

So I tried to play a game using Yor only to find out that there is no Economic or Government improvements to be had with them! Are you really stuck with the starting form of government or I am missing something? Is there anywhere where I can see a detailed tech tree for all the races yet or do I have to wait for the user manual that is supposed to be included with the 2.0 update?

Finally what is the Ascession Victory? Just like 50 turns into the game I got a message telling me that Dregin will win with Ascession victory in 999 turns...? Do I have to beat the game in less than 999 turns or how do I stop them?

The game plays so differently now that it looks like it is a completely differnt game. I am not sure I even prefer it to the previous update. I think all I need though is a detailed overview of each race so I can fit the game to my style of playing :p for the time being lol

There's a topic somewhere called 'TotA 101' or something like it. It has a great deal of information about each race it's weaknesses and strong point.

With Ascension victory you have to mine special ascension crystals. In order to stop another player from achieving this victory, simply destroy their starbases which are mining these crystals. Or, as you put it yourself, beat the game in less than 999 turns (or whatever amount of weeks still left on that timer).

ToA adds much more content to the tech trees making the Galactopedia all the more useful. Fortunately someone updated it to be compatible with ToA; make sure you use version 1.7.4 or later.

Playing as the Yor in ToA you may place on each planet one Recruiting Center (requires Stellar Fortification) which gives you a 10% economic bonus and a 20% population bonus. Also they may place one Efficiency Center (requires Efficiency Studies III) providing a 25% economic bonus. Researching Efficiency Studies I-V will provide a further 45% economic bonus. Furthermore, the Yor planetary improvements have much lower maintenance costs per output unit. If you enable tech trading or stealing and are able to obtain stock markets from another race then you will really be laughing all the way to the bank!

To win an Ascension Victory you need 1000 Ascension points. Placing a starbase on an Ascension crystal earns you one point per turn, so if you had 5 starbases each on a different Ascension crystal then you would win in 200 turns.

If this was useful at all don't forget to send me some good Karma. :-)

Awesome guys thank you very much! Mascrinthus I was really wondering where in the world that recruitment centre that everybody is talking about is! Now I know thanks to you lol

Xrati and Nitrox thanks I found the ToA 101 thread and it is pretty cool. Will play a tad more later tonight to see if I can straighten out my economy!
