Cannot use Galaxy Forge Maps in Multiplayer

How Come?

I've created and modified some of the existing maps, named them without spaces, have them in the galaxy folder, and other players cannot connect.  They receive the message file not found.

I also emailed the map to them, have them place it in the galaxy folder and the same message appeared.  Is there a fix for this or is this not a valid option?

Sadly, custom maps will not auto-download. So, the only way to get them played online is to get other players to download the maps and install them properly. For some reason adding the maps properly is trickier with Vista. It should be as easy as just moving the .galaxy map files into the main Sins Galaxy folder (not the Application Data folder) and any .tga files into the main Sins Textures folder.

I have maps I downloaded into the galaxy folder, but they do not show up in my maps lists. How do I resolve this?

If you are using 1.09, then the maps have to be manually opened with notepad and set versionNumber to two.

I will try that, thanks

Is there a help section that gives that type of information somewhere?

You're on it. Most of the basics are covered in FAQs, but some of the more obscure stuff (And more than a bit of the basic stuff) is generally answered in the forums in each thread. Some of the older threads contain some real useful info.

hey kitkum, i cannot save the files after changing the version number to 2. i keep getting an error that prevents me from saving the folders saying that the folder location and path are not correct. checked properties and it shows that the folder is read-only. regardless of what i do to make it not read only, it reverts back to read only every time.

You'll probably need to be at least an administrator on the system to change that.
