Please NO sliding or fading screen transitions and menus.

Lots of software these days implements sliding and fades when menus are opened or when screens are changed. It drives me nuts. Apple is one of the worst perpetrators. As anyone who has played Forged Alliance can attest, the flickering before you can interact with the main menu quickly grows tiresome. Even Warcraft III had an obnoxious main menu that took several seconds before you could click on anything. As GPG begins to work on the interface (I doubt much has been done yet), I hope they keep this in mind. Fading menus are more work for something less functional. Please make sure all menus and screens appear instantly :).

This would be especially necessary in demigod, because while you are playing against an opponent, you can't pause the game to change some settings. While you are waiting those precious few seconds for your menu to load, your general/assassin could be getting ambushed.

if you really want it for eye candy and better reviews of strange reviewers make it a opt-out feature at least

The menus in game for warcraft 3 all loaded instantly. He's refering to the awesome slide of the chains and stuff when you log onto battlenet, before you get into the game. I can understand why you could get frustrated from that, but i don't think it needs to be INSTANT transitions. I think a really fast transition is perfectly acceptable.

I think sometimes people can get overzealous and say that they don't want something in a game, without realizing that it would actually improve their overall experience. In this case, it would take a well designed menu screen that looks pretty, and at the same time doesn't annoy you when clicking through different parts.

sliding effects makes the transactions between screens less stressfull on your brain because it can better understand the switch i would recommend the sliding effects with a checkbox so you could switch it off once you know the game better, and i would not recommend it for the UI because you dont want to wait 0.25 sec when you change target for somthing to loadup it would be like dragging a bowling ball striped to your leg while you try to run a marathon. but im sure you already know this.

but i could live with the ui sliding in place when you start a new game if it's pretty fast like 0.5sec if your still able to make basic actions like moving it would make a great effect.
