Macintosh Support...

Please?

All of my life I've used mac computers... and it wasn't until just now that I wished that weren't true. I've been a console gamer since the SNES, and for the past 15 years or so (I'm 18) I've been playing whatever I can get my hands on. This is a hobby, and unlike some of my friends I don't let myself get carried away with it, but I love to do it. Anyway, the only computer games I've followed religiously are Blizzard games; WC1-3 including TFT, Diablo 1 and 2, Starcraft, WoW, etc... I love these games.

My favorite game to date is definitely the online in WC3 TFT, or, more specifically, DOTA. After hearing about this game I was immediately sold... in fact, I came here today to preorder it. My subconcious thought process was that if it's a game inspired atleast in part by a Blizzard game (maybe it isn't, that may just be my take on it), it would have mac support.

Bringing this rant to a close, I want this game - I really want this game - and I'm wondering if there's any chance that it will ever be released for Mac (or less likely Xbox 360?). Thanks for any help you can give me!

XBox 360 maybe, if it does very well, but there's no chance it will be released for Mac. It is built on top of the Supreme Commander engine (DirectX), and the small Mac market wouldn't justify such an expensive port.

Yeah, AZ is right. The chance of getting a Mac port is literally zilch.

Couldn't you just dual-boot?

If I knew what dual-boot was... maybe? hahaha

I'm assuming it's some sort of windows-within-mac kind of thing, and it would probably be ridiculously slow and laggy - I'll pass. I guess I'll just have to wait for Diablo 3, or for this game to come to 360 (pretty please?).

It's possible to run Windows on new Macs. You can start the computer then into either Windows or Mac OS. It's not Windows-within-mac, it's Windows exactly as if it were a standard PC, so it's not slow or laggy. How old is your computer?

That's debatable. >D

But they're quite right, on an Intel Mac you can run windows on the hardware natively by dual booting. If not, I THINK that since Mac OS X is a *nix like operating system you can get WINE to run on it with some compiling. WINE will run Supreme Commander with little to no problems if you are prepared to jump through a hoop or two as well as it would run under Windows. Perhaps better, since most *nix systems have much less going on in the background. If Supreme Commander will run, it stands to reason that Demigod which uses a modified version of the same engine will also run.
