What Demigod do you want to play the most?

What Demigod do you want to play the most?

AKA, let's kill some time with Speculations

Hi future Demigods!
So, you think you're up to the incoming challenge, and worthy of siting on the great throne in the skies? Well, you most likely are :).

The questions is, though, who will you be? Among the few Demigods that have been disclosed to us, which one are you the most interested in? I mean, of course, we'll play them all, and after we've started playing our tastes will most likely change. But based on the style, artworks, screenshots, and the little we know avbout them, which one would you want to play now, if you had to pick one?

My answer: without a doubt, Rook. I mean, a 10 meters high walking castle that smashes the enemy with a mighty hammer? This hero eats badass-pills for breakfast!  :HOT:
Of course, I'm aware it's not goiong to be the most subtle, but who cares about subtility when you can crush dinosaurs with your feet? :CONGRAT:

So, what about you? In other words, what's your fave one so far?

Unclean Beast or Torchbearer.

Let's see how stone stands up to an acidic slime or flash-freezing :D

Hearing about the Vampire Lord, it sounds like the best General so far.

I am definately playing as Assasin. So far I like Rook and Unclean beast.

The general Tiger rider bitch, forgot her name is probably going to be a tough general to beat with her healing aura but the vampire lord does sound neat. Of course i'm going to devote my time to learning every little detail about the killing power of the torch bearer and who he synchronizes best with. the back story about being a lord murdered by his people only makes me love him more.

Unclean beast probably. Snare and DoT's and nice. Generally DoT units do the highest DPS to make up for the slow damage dealing, so I imagine Unclean beast is good.

Sedna if there are some good direct heals so I can micro to keep things alive and do well.

Or what is likely is I'll abuse what's overpowered while simultaneously yelling constantly and berating the devs to fix it, really.

in my opinion, the possibilitys of controlling the assasins is one point which will effect on my choice.
i didnt hear much about that until now... so if im talking trash just give me a kick to stop it^^.
but if it would maybe possible to play the assasins like ... some Beat-em-up with a gamepad... that would be the ultimate of all kinds of controlling them! i hope there will be some way to controll them like it is possible in devil-may-cry on computer. you can target close enemys directly but the attacks are not like in other mmo's so that you target someone and you click a button to kill. to be close enough and that some aim is needed as well for hitting enemys would be a great kind of assasin-gameplay. for a general not realy usefull, because of the map-overview he needs but the assasin-class would be so much cooler^^
i hope we will somewhen have as lot different demigods as we got heros in dota - 91 :D

Actually thats a pretty cool idea, not that they're going to do it that way (well ya never know). But yea we need lots of demigods 40-50 is my hope.

I'd say that 30-40 demigods on release would be perfect for my tastes. With new ones added with patches and stuff later on.
I think 15-20 will be plenty and is most likely.
I highly doubt there would be near 40.

30-40...such unrealistic expectations  :(. I'd rather see 12-16 with a more refined and diverse skill set...diverse enough that two teams full of the same demigod could fight and no two people would play their character the same way.

Who needs diverse skill sets for that? (refined is good though) in dota you can play a hero in quite a few ways depending on what items you get and what skills you get first (and they only have 4 skills each in dota). In -sh (same hero) games with my friends the winner is typically the one who can think of the most innovative (and reverse the norm) way to play the character. And it's a lot of fun even though we all end up having the exact same skills, how we use them, and how we use our character, is what defines our tactics.

Who needs the hero to provide the diverse array of choices when the game as a whole can provide them easier and quicker, not to say I don't want more skills than 4, but I rather have more demigods than more skill choices. why? Because skill CHOICES is implying I have to pick between two possible builds, much like WoW where what defines your character is your current talent build, meaning that you are unable to use some abilities, I much rather have items, play style, and order of skill leveling define my character, and I also like the idea of having all my characters abilities by the end of a (long) game.

If characters are going to have skill tress why not just make them separate characters, it adds more flavor, prevents the "i ch0s teh wong sk1l kk n00b" whining, allows people to look at a hero and always expect certain skills, but when used in diffrent ways can raise the oh sh*t factor, and also makes timing and choices important: in the fact that getting the right skills in the right order with the right items combined with the most important factor of playing these choices correctly and skillfully much more important than surprising you enemy when he thought you were going 'frost' over 'fire'.

Did I say anything as in demand, request or want? I said it would be perfect for my tastes. The reality WILL be different, it is obvious. Your pessimism (or call it realism, whatever you name it) isn't exactly helping anyway.

Why so high expectations? Well, more flavor to the game never, EVER hurts.

More can always hurt a game, Look at Guild wars and it's subsequent doses of Cyanide they called expansions. that was more Flavour but it completely killed the feeling of the game

Seems like half of these threads end up on the # of Demi's ready for release. What it boils down to is they will release as many as they can.

Or in other words, as many as they can:
1. get a cool idea
2. agree as a group to do
3. attach skills and abilities
4. nail down the gameplay
5. model, map and render, and balance.

I think trying to get the # of heroes as DOTA by release is first of all unnecessary but also impractical. The release date would either be postponed or the demi's would be watered down, non-unique, and well you get the point.

The game is supposed to support up to 5v5. That means 10 demi's minimum. Doubling that gives everyone plenty of choices. Doubling again and I think the Demi's will start to be a waste.
