Sins of a Solar Empire v1.1 Beta has Arrived

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319061
The next major update for Sins of a Solar Empire, the best-selling PC strategy game of 2008 that puts the player in command of an interstellar empire at war, is here!

Since this new update is huge and contains several brand new technologies, we're going to be offering it as an optional beta for those who want to help test it out and provide feedback.

Version 1.1 not only includes a host of play balancing changes but new content such as an updated graphics engine, updated visuals, new damage animations, and more. It also includes a new multiplayer system called "Alloy" which eliminates the need for configuring routers or changing port numbers.

This beta update will be available only through Stardock's new Impulse platform (http://www.impulsedriven.com).

See the full change log for all the details and the beta information thread for more information on obtaining the update.

I am still trying to register my game so I can get the beta. But when I put in the serial code and hit the Add Registration button I get ref:204. I know the e-mail and CD code are right so what is going on?

You would probably get an official response faster if you post in one of the running "Impulse issues" threads on the Impulse boards, since your issue is more with game registration than it is with the beta ;)

oky I'll do that.

Impulse is seriously gay.

I just downloaded the beta through it and now i cant even play my original SoaSE anymore, does anyone have any idea as to why this may have happened, or is it just that impulse is retarded, cause I dont want to have to wait another 5 hours to download the patch again (I only have a 512 kb connection), cheers.

So, the patch beta downloaded and works fine, but you didn't bother to read the patch notes that say you can't play 1.05 with it so now you're complaining? :P

ya, when is the update actually coming to everyone?... u guys said mid july no?

Downloaded and played yesterday. Gotta say i love it so far. I had played myself to boredom since a while before the release of 1.5, feels great to be back. Such a nice beta patch! :D

Not unless you're talking about the Beta that is already out:
This beta update will be available only through Stardock's new Impulse platform sometime in mid-July.

Ok I'm getting a "Setup is not supported by Windows XP x64" message when trying to install this Impulse dealy. Could someone point me towards a fix for this, or the right place for an answer if this is the wrong place to ask.I'd like to try this beta on my currently fully working x64 copy of SoaSE
Tell XP to run the installer in 32-bit mode and that should do the trick.

Yeah, and how exactly do I do that? I tried the compatibility wizard, which didn't help. That's as far as I know how to go.

i miss functional mods :(

will the modding utilities of SoaSE be updated to 1.1 also with the final 1.1 patch?

I think they intend to update the Forge Tools even before then.

No, it deleted everything is what I meant, my entire game folder, after i checked I had to reinstall the whole thing, as not even the beta patch worked

how do you guys update from 1.05.028 to 1.1beta?

I installed Impulse but it doesn't show that I need/can to update SOASE. This has been a while since I open up stardock central (few months).

Click the blue orb in the top left and check "Show pre-release versions" to get the patch beta to show up ;)

Dumb question, in the official 1.1 patch, can we expect a campaign mode?

Any chance a date for the real patch has surfaced?
I dont mean to rush the Dev's, they do an AWESOME job, and I understand they need alot of time to make things right, I'm just curious.
Yeah, me too, I'm curious to see if they make any last minute changes to it using player feedback.

I've heard the Beta is to last a month or two.
Ack, a month is fine, but the end of September? :(

Good thing I only care about SP :)

Is there any way to tell Impulse to not Archive files before updating? I am stumped as how to find a place to set options.

Not sure. But if there is, it should be in the blue Stardock icon menu in the corner.

I honestly hate this download manager. It takes forever to update itself, it checks every single file when you start it or refresh it, and the dam thing wont download 1.1. Its the worst download manager Ive ever worked with and gives you no options whatsoever. Epic fail Stardock. You went for convenience > reliability and its horrible. Give me a patch download outside the dam manager, because I hate this thing and have heard nothing but positive feedback on the new patch(plus I like what I read in the notes), and want to play it.
