Embarressing problem

Okay the other day I was sitting down ready to fill out my form to get an absentee ballot (which Ive been needing to do for a while now) when I notice that my drivers licence is gone so after tearing my dorm room apart I still cant find it. I have a feeling one of my roommates too it but sence I dont have proof they wont respond to my accusations. So anyway on to my question (I hope you didn't give up on me and assume there wasnt one); can I call up the department of transportation in my area and just request to find out what it is. I would go there in person and get a new one but the place where its at is 100 miles away (I recently moved oh by the way could I get a new one at my current residence and just use that one) so thats not really plausable. Any help will be great although if worse comes to worse I can just drive down there the day of the election and drive back that night.

In Arkansas, where I live, you can go to any DMV to get a new license -- you don't have to go to the one in your home county. This makes it easier for college students to renew their licenses w/o having to travel back home. Maybe that's the case in Iowa. If you are using an absentee ballot, you might be able to just write the number on it, so do you have checks or anything with the DL# on them? Good luck.
