Why I support John Kerry for President of the United States of America

I have been told to either put up or shut up. In this spirit, I am going to announce the reasons why I support John Kerry, and not the reasons I do not support G dubya.

1) Despite claims to the contrary by the GOP, John Kerry actually has a mighty impressive foreign record. He cracked down on drug trafficking in Panama, and cracked down on their corrupt national bank, which was involved in illegal activates with the CIA. He also worked out POW negotiations with Vietnam.

2) Despite claims by Bush that he has not been active as a Senator, he is the third most active senator to become a Nominee (based on his 6000+ votes).

3) He does not support the way we entered into Iraq.

4) He supports the right to choose (regarding abortion).

5) He believes that balancing our budget is important.

6) He believes in gay partnerships

7) He believes in clean energy and in eliminating our oil imports from the middle east

8) He believes in some regulation, which is necessary

9) He believes that global warming is happening and it is a threat

10) John Kerry believes in making college affordable for all.

I'm going to play conservative...let's see if I can do it.

He cracked down on drug trafficking in Panama, and cracked down on their corrupt national bank, which was involved in illegal activates with the CIA.

Hm. I thought it was George H.W. Bush that finally solved that Panama problem. Without Bush, Manuel Noriega would still be in power and not sitting in a Florida prison.

third most active senator to become a Nominee

Meaning what? How big is the pool of "senators that became nominees?" How about senators overall, how does he rate there? He's the 14th most LIBERAL Senator over his 20 year career, including most liberal in 2003.

He does not support the way we entered into Iraq.

Then why did he vote for the war? C'mon, he was gung ho for Iraq until Howard Dean started trouncing him in the polls!

He supports the right to choose (regarding abortion).

Oh yeah, Mr. "I'm Pro-Choice, but Life begins at Conception." How much more wishy-washy can a guy get?

He believes that balancing our budget is important.

So does President Bush, but nobody could have predicted 9/11 and the serious blow that it was to our economy. Besides, the curent deficit as a percentage of the GNP is smaller than our debts under Reagan and in WWII!

He believes in gay partnerships

But he's too wishy washy to come right out for gay marriages? What's this civil union crap? He's trying to have it both ways, yet again!

He believes in clean energy and in eliminating our oil imports from the middle east

So does President Bush! Bush has given more funding for hydrogen fuel cells than any other President! Besides, you have to understand how dependant on petrochemicals our economy is -- Kerry's promises are just pandering and pipe dreams.

He believes in some regulation, which is necessary

Regulation of what? Business? You act like President Bush wants to do away with the SEC or something. Sheesh.

He believes that global warming is happening and it is a threat

There are plenty of scientists that say we don't know enough about global warming to know if it is even real, much less a threat. We know what cutting emissions would do to our economy -- that's real!

John Kerry believes in making college affordable for all.

George Bush would love for everyone to go to college -- but he doesn't want to raise taxes to the point where this would happen. Bush thinks that putting more money into the pockets of the people will allow them to do things like save for college -- whether for themselves or their children. He believes that your money is yours to spend on whatever you choose -- college, a new car, braces for the kids, or a new home. Bush is about CHOICES!

There, that's my best impression of a conservative answering these questions -- and I tried to use arguments that I can see some valid points in, not just snarky sarcasm. Having said all that:

VOTE KERRY!

Thanks...I think...

No! Really! The only one that can actually be picked apart is the one on the economy.

I feel like answering myself in the manner of Dan Akyroyd from that old SNL "Weekend Update" clip:

"Myrrander, you ignorant slut."

Unfortunately for you, Mr Kerry during debate #3, actually came out and said that he did not support gay marriages on a religious standpoint. He would, however, be a hypocrite and support them for his own political gains, in essence what he said. I am a die-hard conservative, and yet I support the rights of homosexuals to get married. I have no doubt that Mr. Bush is opposed. I do not agree with him. However, I would rather support a man who sticks to his beliefs than a hypocrite. Oh, incidentally, we all know that gay marriage isn't the only issue senator Kerry waffles on.
