Alas, my first time posting is to add my name to list of not being able to update. I too have XP SP3 and have run the above suggestions and tossed in a reboot for good measure, but still have the constant redownload problems.

I'm in the same boat. Reset XML, cleared cache, and rebooted...still getting looping on download of wp6.scd of WindowBlinds 6.20.087 using Stardock Central, on XP SP3.

What is Impulse and do I want it? Is it going to solicit me to death?

@Almonty, you managed to update to WB6.2 using XP?

Yes, XP Pro SP3 using Impulse. As you can see in the picture it's in there.

Wait a second.SDC isn't working for you and Impulse sucks?Did I miss something?
Ok,then use the other update method.Oh wait, there is no other method.
I don't care if it sucks,blows and whines,Impulse works!

I dropped SDC when Impulse came out. The update versions were always different. I knew SDC was going to be phased out so I picked one and haven't had any problems. I'd like to use the IRC but I don't know how to logon to it.

I'm running XP SP3. I downloaded WB 6.2 using Impulse just now. I didn't disable any security programs before installation. The only problem I had was after choosing to reboot, it started the process of shutting down but never quite made it. After waiting about 10 minutes, I did a forced shutdown, turned it back on, and it was fine. WB started up by itself as it usually does after a installation/reboot. I checked the version...it was 6.2 (build 61x86). I started up Impulse...no WB update to install. Everything's working just fine.

Mine was slow shutting down too, but it did it on it's own. I didn't disable any security programs before installation either. (never had to)

I have reforced the file sync on SDC downloads to stop them looping.

Just open Impulse, click on the community tab, then the "chat" button on the bottom.
Then in the upper box, enter your nickname and in the bottom box, select the room from the drop-down.Click connect, you're good to go.You can change rooms as before with the WC Browser.

"See" ya there. :D

Strange.. I can't see what other programs might interfere..

The only significant nonStardock software usually running) is StorageCraft ShadowProtect Desktop 3.2, VMWare Workstation 6.0.4 and Everest Ultimate.

Most of these is a h*ll to disable completely.

:) I tried the complete uninstall approach (in addition to the new Impulse update), with Ccleaner and the lot.

Version 6.2 is finally installed successfully!

Apparently the new version isn't made for a straight forward update approach, but needs complete uninstall, reboot, ccleaner, then install of 6.2.

Oh, for completeness.. I restored a 6.2 archive when I succeed, not direct install.

Sorry for using multiple posts.. I'm writing this on my mobile, and it doesn't display the mess above the edit field correctly..

Vista Home Basic.Latest build.WB config more often than not isn't showing the start menu on the preveiw pane.If it is showing, going to another skin causes it to vanish.Closing WB config and reopening it sometimes, but not always, fixes it.Some times just switching to a substyle will make it appear or disappear. Here's my info.Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 3

I just tried to install this on my new laptop. I got a Maximum Activations reached window. I don't know why? I started a ticket this morning (ZYP-728490). No hurry but just in case someone reads this before the ticket. :)

I don't know why?

I know why: because the sig6.bin file has been changed with version 6.20  :(

I am in the process of cleaning up the pathname architecture of the Stardock product installs on my puter. For the full context on this issue, please review my post at:

Directory Architecture: WWW Link

With SoundPackager, it was easy:

1 ADVANCED TAB - MY PACKAGE DIRECTORY FIELD - entered new pathname to C:\+Stardock\SoundPackager\
2 MOVED all theme files from existing default to new target pathname location.
3 CLOSED and REOPENED SoundPackager. All themes displayed. Everything working squeeky clean and swell.

IconPackager had an identical redirect option in its Advanced Settings, which also worked just fine.

I attempted the same procedure with WindowBlinds 6.2. There is no option whatsoever for changing the default target pathname of the WindowBlinds resources folder which is presently set to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\

There is no option for defining the WindowBlinds 6.2 target resource pathname, either during the initial install process, or in the WindowBlinds 6.2 Control Panel.

How can I change this default .wmb resources folder pathname to:

C:\+Stardock\WindowBlinds\

Simularly, there is no option for defining the SkinStudio 6.2 target resource pathname, either during the initial install process, or in the SkinStudio 6.2 Control Panel. Since this target pathname must obviously point to the WindowBlinds resources to work, is this SkinStudio 6.2 target resource pathname hard-wired into the app?

How can I change the default SkinStudio 6.2 .wmb target resources folder pathname to:

C:\+Stardock\WindowBlinds\

Additionally, SkinStudio 6.2 has its own resources edit info located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\SkinStudio6\

How can I change the default SkinStudio 6.2 resources edit info pathname to:

C:\+Stardock\WindowBlinds\SkinStudio6\

Thank you.

issue with cleartype again & again.
I'm fed up, posted a thread for it:

Ever since installing 6.20.089, clicking on of the menu items in basic windows programs (notepad, paint, solitaire, wordpad, calc, etc) will exit the program. Other programs (SDC, FF, IE7, Audacity, etc.) do not have this issue. If I unload windows blinds, everything works great.

Unfortunatle, I've also just discovered that the Auto-archive checkbox in SDC hasn't been working for me (since I went to revert and the archives aren't there, lloks like they never have been) so I cannot revert back to the previous version, which was working.

Running WinXP SP3 32bit. Can give more info as needed.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've just reinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate 32x, and after installing WB, and rebooting, I get the message that I need to reboot again.  I've tried a download/install with no firewall software running, and I still get this error.

Please help.
