anyone running Vista have problems installing it?
User account control is off, blah blah. no problems there. but it did its thing, i booted up the game and tried to join a match hosted by WHIPperSNAPper and i didnt have the "necessary files".
thoughts?

whippersnapper i know him, its because he plays custom maps, u need to download the map pack to play or the custom map hes using


just try joining a random map game + u will succeed

plus all add my gametag + msg me pl0x if u have teh mappack

I've seen a couple folks have issues here and there with Vista an custom maps. Perhaps someone who's done it successfully in Vista needs to write a primer on it? From what I can garner, after you've downloaded the .zip file you have to do something unusual to it. Perhaps most people with Vista just move the file around before unzipping it? I think the problem has something to do with the copying or moving of the file from one directory to another.

Got it, I got to play some of his early work and it's worth downloading for those of you on the fence on the issue.

 

I haven't seen a custom map game for ages, though I can't say that I've had the patience to try to get one going, either.  That's too bad because there are some excellent, even formal competition maps available out there.

Sounds like more a lack of notifaction/organization... I know the community is split right now during the beta too, I'm sure that makes it more complicated.
