Change Assassin to somthing else.

Change Assassin to somthing else.

Ok i'm jsut having trouble with this whole "Assassin" Thing. I saw the screenie of the Rook the "power" assassin, and i'm like uh...Why don't they just call them Heros? I mean after all, a hero in greek mythology was a referring to a Demigod, it just makes more sense. And the rook is frickin huge! and assassin i think falls short of demigodness, This game says to me BIG BADASS AND HUGE AWESOMENESS. HEROS! LORDS (Lord of ___) ! WARRIORS! I just see in my head the Rook stomping onto the battlefield, leaving big ass footprints (that of course work just like anyother decal and disapear overtime) and destroying stuff with power and lazer beams lol, dosen't really say Assassin to me.

Can anyone else come up with some ideas? or other words for Heros?

This leads me to thinking about a popular game. Kings and Knights!

Me neither, but it's very unlikely that all the "Assassins" have just enemy-killing skills. It would make the assassin role a bit repetitive, don't you think? I believe that a part of them will have some kind of empowering, recovering or supporting skills, and that's why their name won't fit their role, if it's left like this.

I think that every Demigod must be effective in 1vs1. So even if some of them have healing skills or other supporting skills they must have killing skills, so the name "Assassin" fits anyway.

I also agree with Assassin being a bad choice.

No, the word "assassin" does not necessarily mean sneaky, but that is one of its connotations. If you asked your average Joe to describe an assassin then they would most likely describe some sort of person who stealthily kills someone. They will never describe an assassin as a huge, slow person with a giant hammer that slowly makes his way across the battlefield.

I have to agree that simply "Hero" would be a better choice. It's non-specific, but it does suggest that the character fights on their own. You generally don't think of commanders being heroes so there shouldn't be any confusion there.

I dunno, I like the earlier suggestions of Champions and Generals, then again from what we been hearing lately the lines are fading between the 2 'classes' anyway so soon we can just call them Demigods and be done with it :)

Yeah, I say they should just get rid of the whole naming convention and just have little descriptions for each Demigod, IE. Commander Demigod, Power Demigod instead of General and Power assassins.

PS. If it were to be changed to Champion or Knight or something I can't imagine people will think the one stealthy assassin would be easy to see as a knight or Champion...

Good idea SHOKK, but that idea would be better with a lot of heros/assasins/generals/.....

Dunno how many there are gonna be, or if its only those 2.

But I hope there will be a lot of well balanced charators that would be sirius killing machines in the right gamers screen ^^

Yes I fully agree that in the DemiGod context and our modern context, assassin implies targeting single persons. That is why the Assassins in Demigod should be focused on killing individuals, namely the other Demigods (opposing players). Even the rook who should be able to lay waste to the peons, should be ultimately pointed at destroying the other players. True, generals have the same focus, but they do so with an entire army whereas an assassin does by himself. I think champions is the better descriptor. But Assassins sound cooler. Meh its just semantics, perhaps Demigod will be the force that changes the context of the word assassin.

And Generals don't target single persons (the asssassins)?
Wtf do Generals do then? Have tea parties?

Generals attack the enemy army :).

Champions wouldn't fit, I think. Champions are servant of a cause or a person. I think that assassin-class Demigods, or at least some of them, do not care about anything but getting personnal power; they're hardly worthy of the title "champion"

Hey i'm all personally WAY down with just calling them Demigods, and letting your build show if your more assassin based or more General based, Ya know like letting you choose your skills on a tree sort of thing. And then have some nice synergys, similar to diablo 2

Like, you have ALL the skills available to you, You just personally decide on your build. And maybe the core demigod you choose has some certain special tree to him. Like the rook for instance.

The Generals getting troops isn't a distinction of skills AFAIK.

Choosing not to use troopers as a General would be seriously gimping yourself, I believe.

I think there is a better term we can use for the "Assassin". Since it's a one man army, call it "Onslaught".
