Problems uninstalling or closing down DeskScapes

No install log file?

Hi,

I installed the trial of DeskScapes 2.0 from Download.com but was not impressed. Computer freezing, jerky animation.. in short
of no interest to me.  I know, I can start installing older drivers and do this and that, but I just want to get rid of it!

Have tried installing DeskScapes several times but when I then try to uninstall it I always get a message that says somthing like
"no install log file found" and the prosess stops.  What to do?

I may be exeptionally dense these days but I can't even find a way to shut down the program.  Every time I try to start my (Vista Premium)
laptop the program starts too, and then the computer is as good as useless.  If I click on  DeskScapes I just get options that allow me to
change between different images, download even more images and such. No little "off" button or selection anywhere.. So.. again, what to do?

I really am having big trouble with this, if I can't get any help pretty soon I guess I have to reformat the whole harddisk and start
installing Vista all over again!  (I actually have had far less trouble getting rid of several viruses and other nasties than this program)

So PLEASE anyone, I really, really need your help on this!

Regards,
uh?

Setting a standard static wallpaper should disable it.

uh?,you can get Revo uninstaller from download.com.It will do a far better job of uninstalling unwanted software than add/remove programs.
I run DeskScapes on a low end PC with no problems so I don't know what sort of issues you had going on.It should not of had the effects you mentioned. If it worked properly, would you want to keep it?Maybe someone here at WC or Stardock can help you.Either way, good luck.

Ok this is not a fix - but it will stop the program.
Open task manager and go to processes. There you will see explorer.exe . You will need to end this process. Don't be alarmed it will kill most everything you see except the task manager itself and stop the deskscapes from running. Then go to users tab in task manager and there is a logoff button at the bottom right. Logoff and it will take you to the login screen where you can log back in. Once you log back in an error with explorer will be generated and stop deskscapes from being started again with explorer. Thus it will give you a solid background wallpaper. From here you can go to your personlize for your desktop again to select something besides deskscapes.

From the way it sounds you may have a corrupted explorer and/or it may need to be reinstalled. But I would need more info as to what security software you are using and such.
Which could be the cause also.

Let me know if this works...

I have the same problem with this program, it just won't uninstall. I've stopped it from running at startup, stopped all of the processes that I can find associated with it, and this piece of crap just won't uninstall. I have a compaq presario c700 running vista ultimate 3g ram , and thought I'd try this instead of the free fully functioning DreamScene. But didn't like the program because it froze and restarted my machine and changed all of my display settings incorrectly. the animations were worse than setting my own cropped version of a converted web video as the desktop background. Ieven tried to purchase through the impulse online option, but even that is screwed up.  I used to love windows blinds on my lower end machines years ago, but they really sauced this program. If i have any luck with a 3rd party uninstaller I will post here.... good luck
