Not enough widgets...

..and no coonsistancy in widgets available.

If you look at Diamond, there are no widgets at all.  Quest has two widgets, but it could use a calender. Think Green has a weather widget, but could use a calander and clock.

Maybe that was a way to keep costs down so that they could give them away.

That could very well be the reason. But if they expect me to ever buy one, then they had better serve up a few good samples for me to try out first, and for the most part, the samples I've seen don't cut it.  :(

GarGuy, HG Eliminator & Zubaz,

I should say that that I really do like the windowblinds that came with the three free Themes. However, it is the "extras", which I think should come with the package that I have most of my problems with.

Making my own widgets sounds like a good idea until you realize that the graphics are encrypted and then how would I incorporate the widget into the hard coded theme? Plus, I'm not enough of an artist to create them from scratch (I'm a great art critic, but have little actual art talent due to disabilities), or have the money to create them using expensive software like Photoshop. Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion. Maybe someday, I might be up to it, but not right now.  ;p

Just a note to the wise... I admit I am biased against My Colors. Some of you may remember that I was the one who posted the "My Colors is a massive step backwards" thread a while back. For the most part, I still hold that opinion with perhaps a small modification... substitute "big" for "massive".

I think I have read a couple times somewhere on the forums that Stardock intends to create versions for Object Desktop subscribers that can be manipulated like a regular Theme Manager theme. If that happens, I'll take back everything I said and maybe even make a first attempt at making my first widget. Let's hope! :CONGRAT:

There is no standard for gadgets in the themes.  They are "bonuses" to the theme.  A base theme is a WB, wall, 26+ icons (most have over 50 icons and some even more).  We try to get a weather gadget into all themes, some have media players, clocks, calendars, etc, but those are not core theme components.

We are in the process of updating our system to allow OD subscribers to download a zip files of the individual components with their purchase.  As I stated elsewhere, this takes time, so a little patience would be appreciated.
