Serial number when adding Metaverse character?

Hiya,

I've never used the Metaverse before, but with a bunch of offline games under my belt now I thought I'd give it a shot. going to the Metaverse site and trying to create a character, I note that it asks for a serial numer?

What serial number do I need to put here? I purchased the game through SDC, and don't recall ever having to enter a number. how can I find the number I need?

The only way I know for sure is to check your registry. You should be able to look it up under SDC but I'm pretty sure the value displayed there is encrypted and changes.

Go to Run under the Start Menu and type Regedit then navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock\ComponentManager\Drengin.net\gc2

There you will find n key labelled "Serial No" and the value is your serial number which should be a 28 character string.

Note that this is acutally your DL serial number and dependent on which version(s) of the game you have you may also have some other serial numbers as well but in any case I'm pretty sure the DL serial number is the one to use to create a Metaverse character. Don't worry you'll be able to play and submit any version of the game to the metaverse.

Also don't forget that to play a metaverse you need to press the "Metaverse" button and *not* the "New Game" button to start the game. You will then need to log onto the metaverse to start the game but from there on out you can load a save game like normal and only when you finish it will you have to log back on to the metaverse.

Good Luck. :)

Sorry about the spelling errors above but the 1st reply of a thread can't be edited.  :NOTSURE:

Should be able to just go to My Account->Registrations here on the forum. Alternately the original non-regenerated serial should be in the purchase receipt email if you still have it.

Actually that's the number that's somehow encrypted and changes every time you look at it. That's what I mistakenly attributed to being displayed under SDC but you can't edit reply #1 so I couldn't correct myself.

Certainly the serial number that's displayed under My Account->Registrations *may* work and since it's simple it's worth a try.

I just know for certain that using the one from your registry *will* definitely work. Anything else is just a guess on my part.
