I have reinstalled the free version at least 5 times.Every 3 weeks almost like clockwork this lockup happens to me.CFX uses 80-90% of my cpu and must be closed by the task manager.I either change cursors by clicking on the cursors file or uninstall and clean out the 272 reg entries and 168 files left behind by the uninstall of CFX (as per Revo)in order to be able to reinstall it.If I don't clean up,it just locks again.
It is currently in this state. If V2.01 will fix this, great.I've never asked for support, and expect none with a free app.I do base future purchases on stability and ease of use, however.
OD free has NEVER let me down,I'm sorry I can't say the same for CFX.

Let me know if this version fixes this for you. That was the reason why I uninstalled.
Like you, I find it hard to complain about a free app.

Can someone confirm if there is still a z order problem with the cursors going behind windows?

I've tried it with 3-8 windows open,includingFF3 and IE7.I'm just using 3 of the supplied cursors.I'm not seeing any problems here.I'll have to wait now and see what happens in 3 weeks.

the update does not show up in impulse for me, even though impulse recognizes the program as installed.
loading SDC works fine.

Nah,it's borked. Open the control panel, select cursor, hit apply. The preview changes and the cursor returns to default Vista.Hit apply again and the selected cursor is applied. ;p It was not like this before.Any ideas?

Installed via SDC and looks better - nice work Stardock. Shows a beta in Impulse - but I figure thats just a server error so far with such a new release.

For those having problems with Vista - it usually has problems due to the user acct. and if you are using UAC. My Vista Ultimate is true admin and UAC is on with tons of anti-virus running and anti-spy. With of course a process guard along with defender in there.

The cursor going behind a window frame is a sure sign of a bad login with bad drivers being loaded for graphics. Usually a log off and back in solves it. Otherwise a restart and wait a good amount of time before you login so as the drivers for graphics get set properly. Also take a good look at your startup and tune that machine to start with a bit less junk programs running. A lot of stuff will cause it - but more likely it is a bad load due to a over load.

Good luck

I get the same behaviour on XP. Occasionally it'll swap immediately but most of the time I need to apply twice.

What version shows up in Impulse for you?

I mentioned this elsewhere, but after uninstalling the free version with revo and cleaning up the mess it leaves behind,I reinstalled CFX.Impulse then showed two of them, CFX and CFX plus.I uninstalled CFXPlus through Impulse,it removed both.I installed again.

Now I have only CFXPlus showing with an update I cannot get.I assume this is why it says CFXPlus is not installed correctly.I expect programs marked as "not installed correctly" to be defective, not out-of-date.
I was allowed an update for the free version of OD,can I update CFXPlus(free) as well?If not,can you get Impulse to recognize free vs.registered software?I don't want updates showing or hidden that do not apply.Thank you. Installed v2.00 Availablev2.01.014

Is it showing up as a BETA for you in Impulse?  Can you send me a screen shot?

Impulse should not show both of them.  Please uninstall and make sure you are installing the latest 2.01 build.

What other applications do you have installed?  We have not seen this here.  What anti-virus specifically?

What version of CursorFX?  2.01?  We cannot reproduce on Windows XP with 2.01.

Almost everything in the ODNT arsenal and OD free, minus SKS.I had AVG, now Avast and this problem occurred with both.No active anti-spy in use, only WindowsDefender. It's almost like a timer,20-22 days and the control panel is toast.I have Belarc if you need more info.Just let me know.As stated,I didn't request support since it's free, but I'll gladly help troubleshoot it.

I uninstalled, but reinstalled the same dl from last night,I'll get a fresh one.

What version of CursorFX?

I show v2.00 installed>I will now uninstall it through Impulse, reinstall it and see what I get.Thanks,Zargon.

Update:Uninstalled,ran ccleaner,rebooted.Dl'd CFX from here>https://www.stardock.com/products/cursorfx/downloads.asp
I got this>File version-2.0.0.0- 7/9/08-14.2Mb.Reinstalled and rebooted.
The CFX control panel "About"says it is 2.01.Impulse says it is 2.00 with an available update.
Fyi,OD Free was placed in My Desktop tab by Impulse.CFX I had added manually, before this update. That may be why I had two.ODFree allowed an updateonce before,CFX asks for a reg#.
Is there any way to get 2.01.014 or show CFX as installed properly? TIA

Seconds on the error. During the removal of the CursorFX files from the All Users\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX directory, the installer indicates it cannot read the file. R/F/A buttons. I have checked, and yes, I do have complete privileges to the directory.
