Deskscapes not working as advertised

This is a cut-and-paste job from my forum post. No one is answering that so I am re-positing it here in hopes that someone knows what the fix is:

I purchased Deskscapes v2.00 about a week ago and ever since then I've had very inconsistant behavior. When starting the computer, sometimes it will display just a black desktop, not the animation I had running when I last shutdown. Other times (like right now) the computer will boot and I'll see my animation (solar flare) run for about a second and then stop as if it is paused. Right-clicking and pausing-unpausing will not get it to start. I have to reselect the animation either through the "control panel->change desktop background" path or via the Deskscapes program itself. What on earth is wrong here?

System:

Dell XPS M1530, Vista 32-bit, Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB.

Any ideas anyone?

Try running the water dream or the bouncing box dream that came with the program and see if they work. They are dynamic dreams and do not requier a video codec.
You can also try a dream made with a WMV to see if it runs. Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is my Froggy dream, but there are other ones out there.
If those work, it's a safe bet your having codec issues with MPEG 2 video since Solar Flare is a MPEG 2 dream.
Alot of video dreams are made from MPEG 2 video since they use less CPU to run. 99% of mine are MPEG 2 for this reason

Post your results and we can go from there.

I cant believe that the last reply to this is July 3 I guess I cant expect much help either.

I am so mad at myself for buying this program. I usually know better.

I can run any dream fine but when I restart my computer its not there anymore. If I go and try to run the dream it doesn't do anything because it thinks its running, I just can't see it. This happens on both this PC and my Laptop.

I have spend hours looking through every single post, there are lots of problems but no answers.

I'm confused, why wouldn't he get a response from them? Generally they are pretty good about getting things taken care of... I've never had any trouble and I've been a customer for 10 years...

are you sure you have the newest version of deskscapes? I had the same problem, but after an update it went away... my suggestion to you is to concact stardock, and if you have an older version, they will tell you where to download the new one, or if it's some other problem they will know the answer... it's as simple as that... your problem is too complex for anyone on here...

This is a user based forum. Not an official Stardock support forum. Emailing Stardock direct is the best way to go ;)

To The saucier: your experience is NOT mirrored. Stardock support is stellar. Period.

Lionel Keene: I think the problem is the drivers for the Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB. I remember a post where philly or Pixeleo mentioned that the drivers were a rush job on this card.

you are saving your dreams to a temp file, you need to find your dreams folder usually located...in your documents then under stardock
