Big Problems....

All right ... Very frustrating and not a good way to introduce a loyal Stardock customers to your new download system.... I purchased the Space Rangers 2 and Reboot package here on Impulse. As they were downloading I could tell Reboot was going to finish first and that worried me a little. But figuring all of the techincal angles would be hashed out or they wouldn't sell it that way on Impulse, I figured it would be OK.

Well, I went to fire up Reboot and got the "You need to reinstall" warning listed in other posts here. So, I uninstalled BOTH Space Rangers 2 and Reboot, then reinstalled Space Rangers 2. But now that I try to reinstall Reboot, it says I don't have Space Rangers installed! What the !&*@? So, here I sit. I can run Space Rangers 2 Complete, but can't even install Reboot. I also tried to change the "download to" directory and removed the check in the "prompt for directory" button and it still didn't recognize that I have Space Rangers 2 installed! I can't be the only one having problems with this! Any help is appreciated.

One more thing, if I may. I've always loved The Corporate Machine and the disc version I have doesn't work (crashes and gives me an .exe error), so I purchased the Corporated Machine version sold here. Well, this one won't run either.. giving the same error message. And yes, I am running Windows XP and tried to change the "compatability "on the shortcut icon to Windows 95 and Windows 98. Still doesn't work. More money out the window (no pun intended), I guess.  :)

My question is: Why are these games being put up for sale here with all of these techincal issues and unproven "workability" either via this service and on a common platform (XP)? Come on Stardock! I thought you were better than all of this!!!

Now you got me confused. One minute you're talking about SR2 (the original ?) which you uninstalled. And now you say you can run "Complete" but can't install "Reboot" (you mean the expansion only version ?) . But doesn't "Complete" include the expansion ?? So there shouldn't be any need to install the expansion separately ?

I am having a congruant problem, I tried to start downloading the SR2 expansion while I was downloading SR2. It gives error message you should install SR2 first. I finish install of SR2 and try again but recieve the same error mesage. Impulse seems unable to see that the install was finished. As someone who buys there games but doesnt like to jump through hoops to play games they have purchased I realy like to concept of Impulse. But stardock realy needs to get these bugs worked out quickly or companies wont want to sell their product here.

Is that the case? My appologies if it is. :) However, there IS a Reboot icon on the "MyGames" area of my Impulse. That would usually imply that you need to click on that icon to run that version of the game. It's that way with Galactic Civs expansions in Impulse (and, outside of Impulse, it is with a number of other games I have that have expansions).

My complaint still stands as far as the "Must have Space Rangers 2 installed" warning when I hit unstall on Reboot. It certainly is not obvious as to whether it IS installed or not ... and I've been gaming for years. AND that doesn't change the fact that Corporate Machine doesn't even worked when purchased here. Again, all comment and help is welcome!! :)

you'll know if it is the "full version" when you run the game and get to the main menu, you should have some options to play the text adventures or planetary mech battles and be able to pick them from a list.

if thats the case then my problem doesn't exist. The issue then is that there seems to be a problem based on the nature of the impulse error message. Hopefully stardock will act on this.

I'm a bit confused by the original post.  According to your account, you own Space Rangers 2 Complete, so you shouldn't see or be able to install Reboot or Space Rangers 2 (original) by themselves.  The Complete install contains everything you need in one download.

As for Corporate Machine, I don't know. Please contact [email protected] for assistance with that and if they can't sort you out, they'll issue you a refund.

Hey Everyone,

I also have this problem. The techs over a Stardock gave me the "delete, reinstall" mantra when I was having problems, so that is what I did.

I completed deleted SR 1.3 and Reboot. Then I downloaded SR2 1.3 from D2Drive and installed it. Now, when I try to install SR2:Reboot I get the same msg "Missing Prerequisite program: You need to install Space Rangers 2." The same msg as
KingBobCat.

In the past I had D/Led SR2:Reboot twice already before this SNAFU. It seems that the last update to Impulse changed the installation parameters. Stardock are you listening?

What is so confusing? When I downloaded Space Rangers 2 Complete w/ Reboot from Impulse, it downloaded an icon for both Space Rangers 2 and an icon for Reboot. And the Reboot icon behaves in the way I described. Again, being new to Space Rangers 2, I didn't know if "Complete" meant that there was an addon (besides Reboot) included in Space Rangers 2 Complete, so I assumed Reboot was seperate, considering the two icons.

But,I guess Reboot is included in "Complete", thus making it "Complete", right? I wouldn't know this, as I have never owned Space Rangers 2, obviously. It seems impossible that I am the only one having this question.

DigitalAg - I've been told that the Impulse build with this feature implemented will be put live today.

After Impulse updates next, go to install Reboot again.  Impulse will prompt you to point it to where you have Space Rangers 2 installed and you should be good from there.

The Complete description states "includes both Space Rangers 2 and the Reboot expansion" and even the Impulse store page for it states "This special bundle pack includes the original Space Rangers 2 plus the Reboot expansion pack."  ;)

I've found what was wrong with this and fixed it.  Thank you for pointing us in the right direction on this issue. Please PM me as I'd like to hook you up something.
