U should add remote for popular media players.
Can u create a dx .mp4 player?

You may use it to create a good mp3 player for Windows XP. But if you are on Vista you will see something like this:

Stardock ObjectMedia doesn't work on Vista...  (As well Windows Media Player control doesn't work with DX too) (:( 

I use one all the time,(as in daily) for streaming radio,.PuterDudeJim usually puts one is his themes,I've used all of them.I run Vista and never had any trouble with the players.There are a lot of stand alone players,though,so it's not 100% necessary. Adding one is up to you,but not having one won't detract from your work.

I have never gotten that error,or any other for that matter.

I will look into PuterDudsJim's themes to see what he is using. I am pretty sure its the scripts from _Martin_.

Also I will be sending you a theme to test if you would like to test it when I'm done.

I know what you mean. I am encountering many things that do not work on some vista computers. I can not even get a digital or analog clock past the modes because they can not see the time or time hands.

I still would like to here from more of you out there. I never would of thought of the vista problems so if its happening to you, I would like to here that too.

I use dx media player all the time. I think you should keep it on your dxtheme with a toggle.

All my media players are just basic players, made purely with DesktopX plugins. 1 recent player used Martins scripts. I think it was Haven DX. All the rest were non scripted.

Mostly just weather and calendars.

Usually I like having a seperate Xion skin that fits the skin, rather than widget, like gef did.

I would love to use DX player but I cant get drag and drop to work or a playlist to come up.

I don't make the drag and drop variety, but if you click playlist on mine, a playlist browser comes up. Try one of my stand alones. Onyx, October, etc.

Any dx media player which plays .mp4 (.aac)....is there any? Can u make one?

I've watched this thread for several days now and I'm gonna answer your question honestly PuterDudeJ!

Now, I'm a heavy DX theme user / customizer and an equally serious audiophile.

Do I use the built-in media players that comes with the DX themes?

To be blunt with you, no. And here's why.

First of all, you have very little or no control over your over-all audio quality as opposed to a more formidable and dedicated multimedia player.

The other key here is it's being just a media player instead of multimedia. You look at WMP, WinAmp, Media Center, Sonique and even Xion and you see full complements of controls and abilities to handle all media, visualizations, album art and so on.

People are spoiled, people want to see this stuff, and we're talking about a player that does less than a iPod!

As fond as I am with the seamless integrations of a great DX theme, including my theme collection from you, I'm a quality first guy when it comes to my sounds.

I also understand program abilities, software limitations, embedded coding and know that DX designers such as you, takes great pain with these designs. The attentions to details are magnificent. So do I think the players that you guys build into your themes are a waste of time, effort and space?

With all my heart, no!

But, do you think that the DX theme users are wishing that their integrated DX players were on par with the other high quality multimedia players that are out there?

Yes we do!

Time, patience and inevitable evolution is all this takes.

In the mean time, Desktop X themes are totally off the hook as it is. And it's guys like you PuterDude, who sees to it that it remains world class.

For the folks that love to agree and disagree, this is not a debate, just opinion!

You are too good to me. I wish I could, and someday will, make a more sophisticated MULTIMEDIA player. I need to learn script and such. For now, I can only offer basic media players. Thanx for your compliments...

You guys are WC's Desktop X Theme Gods! And one day the Holy DX commandments will finally allow such an integration. You guys just keep pushing that edge! If it can be done, I know you'll do it!

We all love multimedia and the experience players bring. But as it is right now, DX Theme players has the personality of a flash stick. It needs an attitude adjustment!

Do you by chance have any of the old meter plug ins. not sure were all mine went. All I got is performance meter 2. which I can not stand.

Check your email. I will send to you if you email me. I have dxperf3.dll and dxperf4.dll, and dxstats.dll

I have no playlist...DX player dosnt create playlist...at least none that I have used...if I browse to a folder I can only select 1 song...not going to do that for each song.

Now you know he and Boxxi are the Pioneers. But Quentin, Buzz, emecoelho and knofsky are tremendous allies when it comes to DX.

Imagine for one minute the combination of all of these great minds working together for the sole purpose of improving the total multimedia experience of DX Themes!

If nothing else it'd be one hell of a party!
